    - ModelProcessor transforming verticies? yeah what you've described is pretty much exactly where I started from. The untransformed verticies seem to describe the mesh in Left-handed coordinate space, rotated 90degress along the X-Axis. I'm pretty sure that comes from me using 3dsmax though as I've heard other people describing (and fixing) the same problem. When I go about multipling the untransformed verticies by their corresponding absolute transforms (all of the transfrom matricies from all of the parent bones) I would think that they should line up, but they don't. Right now with the mesh I'm working from it seems as though everything is being scaled by 2.43 in each direction, and translated a few units down the Z direction, but I can't figure out why. I wonder if there is some transformation matrix in 3dsmax that is coming through the untransformed verticies that gets left out when it goes through the importer Maybe I'll try creating a simple teapot in 3dsmax and applying my octrees to it to test it today.     - Using a resource file (resx) Embedding all your content in an assembly resource may be okay for a Windows game, but you probably do not want to do that for Xbox 360 games. The NetCF runtime loads the entire assembly before it is JIT-compiled, meaning that *all* of your game content will be loaded at once when the assembly is loaded, then loaded again as you deserialize the resources into objects. If you're creating a small game, this will be no problem. However, if you are building a game with multiple levels, or one with many resources, or one that aggressively uses memory, then you will probably want to load that content only when you need it. In that case, embedding it in a resource is not a good way to go. I remember volumetric fire from Quake II - It looked like a horrible solid explosion. I used to throw grenades just to watch the explosion geometry animate.     - HOWTO: Get ContentManager from within a GameComponent? That changes things a bit. You could have a local ContentManager object definition in your GameComponent and set it to the ContentManager created in Game1 right after it's created since the lifetime of the ContentManager would most likely be the game's lifetime. Alternately you could load all of your assets in the Game1 class and set the textures, models, etc. in your GameComponent class in the Game1.LoadGraphicsContent method, then the GameComponent wouldn't need direct access to the ContentManager. It's not super high poly count models done well, but pointlessly high number vertexes where many of them can't be seen they're occluded by other parts of the mesh. What I tried to do in the past was travel from simple pong clones straight to first person shooters. This is not to say that I couldn't do it (I actually made a cool FPS demo in MDX with physics and all), I just took a really long time due to my little experience. That FPS demo took about half a year. My new project is an extended breakout clone ( www.infillion.blogspot.com ). It isn't a revolutionary game, but I think it looks and plays pretty decent.     - Could C# be the future of gaming? I develop serious games/simulations at my job and we use C++ exclusively, and any loss of performance would put us below our minimum requirements for framerate, etc. However, I plan on downloading the new XNA software and learning C#. Since hardware can make up for some performance loss in the future, and for some smaller applications it would be great to reduce dev time and the number of lines of code when performance is not as important. At some point the total cost of developing an application is offset by the performance gain you would get with using C++, if C# is really as easy as I have read about.     - Identiying which object types collide I could definitely use some of that interface design to work in to collision functionality. Objects usually do act similar between living and non-living. There's shouldn't be a problem with applying a bunch of diferent interfaces. The part I don't know how to do with that is tell which interfaces they contain. When an object collides, it passed the ICollidible interface to the object during the OnCollide method ( public void OnCollide(ICollidible offender) ). I will need to call all interfaces I can send to, right --Such as TakeDamage or SpeedUp. Btw, you deploy your project onto the Xbox using Game Studio Express via the network. The launcher has everything necessary to run your compiled project.     - 3DS Max export I know I'm being a pain in having my game mirror Max, but I set up the coordinate system with Z=up, Y=forward, X=right before I decided on using Max because that's what makes the most sense to me. Being able to edit verts in max, and know what the x,y,z position of the vert will be in-game is very useful to me. I followed your suggestion of a custom ContentProcessor, and now I have exactly what I want. Thanks very much for you help :) Now I just set my models to use my MaxProcessor, and use the coordinate system that I like. For anybody who is interested, here is the code for my 3ds max content processor. hi, I try to study how to input miltilanguage in Directx 3D, and I try to run the sample program CustomUI in Directx SDK(Microsoft DirectX SDK\Samples\C++\Direct3D\CustomUI), but I found I can't input the Chinese in the CDXUTIMEEditBox, what is the problem Since I am a newer and I am not familiar with the IME message process inside the CDXUTIMEEditBox object ,plz help me how to solve this problem,i.e., input the Chinese and show the words on the 3D Thank you so much!
