For machines that don't have XNA GSE installed, you still need to install the XNA Framework. Go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/directx/xna/gse/ and get the framework (or just go here).

Hi Canal.  We don't support the publish wizard in VS Express in our current release.  To get your XNA game working on your PC (without GSE) you have to install the following:

1) DirectX 9.0C End-User Runtime

2) .NET Framework 2.0 Redist

3) XNA Framework Redist (Beta 2)

We know that this is a less than ideal situation. For V1, we didn't have time in our scheduled to do more tool work around setup and deployment of your game.  We plan to address this in future releases.

Thanks!

Great response Albert! So, until this is worked out, if you have a website that hosts XNA beta 2 games, it would be smart to have these 3 links on there.

Greg, they are both saying the same ting, in a way:

Albert is suggesting the DirectX 9 Runtime, .NET 2, and the XNA Framework.

David is suggesting the XNA Framework. When you go to that page, it says that the XNA Framework requires .NET 2 and the DirectX 9 Runtime.

So, you need all three.

However, most people these days have .NET 2 and the DirectX 9 Runtime, so my recommendation would be to direct people to the XNA Framework, as that page clearly states that all three are needed. Then, if they still have problems, remind them of .NET 2 and the DirectX 9 Runtime in your troubleshooting section.

Cheers!

Joran

Hi Albert,

I am having issues running an app written on my laptop on my desktop. I have made sure all three pre-reqs were downloaded and installed, DX9c, .NET2, and the XNA Redist.

Any other suggestions

After publishing to either a file share or a CD install, I run the setup.exe file from my workstation. The install appears to work properly, no errors and I see my app in not only the start menu but also Control Panel -> Add Remove Programs

But when I run, it pops up Windows encountered an error, send or don't send

If helpful, I can post some of that data

thanks

Shinzo-Prime

Had the same problem with:

DirectX 9.0c August Release
.NET Framework 2.0
XNA Framework Beta

installed.

Solved the problem by updating DirectX to October Release!

I've got a little game I'm ready to deploy to my kids' computers, but they don't have internet access. When I tried to install the published game, it wanted to download something. I assume they don't have the .NET framework or XNA Framework Beta installed; should I download those things onto a flash card and transfer onto their machines Will that work

Also, seeing as it's a day before release of Game Studio Express, should I just wait a day Will the XNA Framework be out of Beta when GSE releases tomorrow
