How do you create effects on sprites I am interested in glow and blur effects.
I searched this forum and found alot of information on post processing 3d and the way where you use RenderTarget2D. Is this technique possible when using sprites

If someone could point me in the right direction I would be most grateful.

Cheers

My first intuition would be to create sprites using textured quads. From there you could easily render with an effect and achieve the results you want.

Not sure if you could do this with just 2D sprites, haven't tried.

This could probably be easily done in 2d with a 2d particle engine like Mercury. Look it up on codeplex. Writing an emitter to do this is pretty easy. There are other ways to do it also but if your sticking strictly to 2d thats a good way.

The same sort of postprocessing effects people use in 3D will work just fine over the top of a 2D scene as well.

That's the great thing about postprocessing - it doesn't care how the scene was rendered, just give it an image and it will do its stuff.

Does this mean I can use RenderTarget2D with sprites

Ok, where do I go from here Do I use .fx files and how if so I found some cool shaders here, can I use them
