Hello

Not sure of the best place to post this but I thought best to share some code with you all.

It's a simple space invaders game that will run on the PC as well as the 360 - it uses the two projects in one method.  You'll have to excuse the coding, it's the first thing I've written in C#, previously I used C so it's a bit of a jump.  I always go for something simple to begin with.

It runs in 1280x720 and you can switch between windows and fullscreen using alt-enter.

PC will work with a 360 pad (not sure about others as that's the one I tried).
There's a co-op mode as well, just hit Start when in game to join in.
PC keys are...

           Player 1             Player 2
move    ADSW               Cursors
start     Left Control       Right Control
fire       V                     Home

Obviously uses 360 pads when on the 360.  Hope the source code is useful to you all - any questions about it feel free to let me know.  Oh, and any suggestions on improving the source I'd be more than happy to hear.  The entire collision method should have been done a little more cleanly.

http://www.bigfizz.com/FizzVadersSource.zip     - The workspace that contains PC and 360 code.

Good Luck!

Scott

Umm, your "links" aren't really links, at least not for me. Anyone else seeing this

I'm having just a wee bit of trouble here with Firefox. No problems with IE7.

I like the title

Yeah, I had the same issue Jim. Ended up copying and pasting the links into the address bar and they worked fine there. He's missing the "http://" off of the URLs which is why they're not working when we click on them.

Nice work! Very smooth.

I'm embarrassed to say how many hours I twiddled away with space invaders. Sadly, my skills haven't improved much over the years

P.S. If you're taking requests for the PC version, I'd like to have arrow key control to move the ship, control to fire, enter to begin, and escape to quit. But that's just me.

Thanks for the kind words - you can find the key settings in the settings.xml file (thanks to the SpaceWar demo for that). I probably should have put more variables in there really, got a little lazy.
One of the odd things I found is that the graphics all seem quite subdued\subtle on my laptop screen as opposed to my TV (it's an LCD) where it's much brighter and the colours more vibrant. I was wondering what people do about that How do you find a right balance so it looks good on both If I toned down the effects for the TV you'd barely see anything on a laptop.

I was unable to run the game. Kept getting:

Unable to find manifest signing certificate in the certificate store.

Any thoughts

If you were running the source, go to the project's properties dialog, the signing tab and uncheck the checkboxes.

edit: just confirmed this was the case - the ClickOnce manifest checkbox was checked. Just uncheck it and build.

edit2: pretty cool! Good job.
