Well, I've "finished" work on my first game, which was really just a launching pad for me to experiment with XNA etc. Im quite new to game programming and have limited experience with C# (although I have exp with C and work with ASP.Net in my 9-5).

I wanted to post my source code for anyone interested in checking it out, in the hopes that other noobs like myself could gain something from it.

You can find it on my MSN Blog here: http://xnagamer.spaces.live.com/

Enjoy, and comments are defnitely appreciated! Thanks!

Looks good, will have to give it a try tonight...

Great job for your first XNA game! It totally had the feel of geometry wars, (except for the AI...that was kind of annoying). But all around, one of the more fun first games I've played. Guess the programming job makes things a little easier, huh

Just wondering, is it possible to play this game on a computer or only on the Xbox 360

EDIT: I meant this in reference to the game controls.

Currently it is ONLY for Windows, but only supports a 360 controller.

Sorry if that is a bit convoluted :(

I dont have the creators club yet just because I want to get a better handle on XNA before I spend the money for the 360 CC (if Im not going to be using it really). But, I just plugged my Wired 360 controller into my PC USB port and "pretended" I was on a 360 ;) Seems like the most logical step until I proceed on the Creators Club purchase.

Thanks for the comments too everyone!

O Wilmot

After you've uploaded a game to the XNA Creators Club, other club members can play it right So can they leave feedback in any way Like can they rate the game And is there a board on Xbox Live that tells you the XNA games that have been played/downloaded the most

The Creator's Club doesn't work that way right now. People have to get the source for a game compile and deploy it from GSE to their 360. That will change (soon hopefully) and will hopefully work similar to Live Arcade. It's going to take some time though. You can't just throw something like Live Arcade together in a matter of weeks, especially with the potential issues (security, unfiltered content, etc).

Re: XNA Game Studio Express A noob's first game: Shape Battles (a GeoWars clone)

O Wilmot

Yes, I can imagine filtering content will be the hardest aspect to maintain. I guess each game will have to be checked before its put onto the market place. So that nothing like "Sonic Does Zelda" pops up.

But then, is that even possible Something thats not allowed may only appear on level 1064. All the homebrew and indie stuff cant be played through 100%.
