Does anyone know of where or if there is a mechanism to change the output layout format of a workitem print. The example is: I select a bunch of work items, right click and choose Print or File|Print and the print comes out in a given format. Is there a mechanism to change that format.

Hello Michael:

Maybe you can open these work items in the MS Excel and print them there where you may change the style.

Thanks.

No, that's not the point. I'd do it through SSRS before I did that. I'm trying to find out if the magic juice that defines this layout is available for modification or does it live in code only. I'll likely go digging through the class structures with our friend Reflector looking for the portion that connects with the IDE and responds to the Print command but was hoping someone had the answer of either some unknown config to me or a pointer to the class(es) and method(s) utilized in rendering for the print.

Michael, the print format is in localized resource file and it cannot be configured. We print this by reading the workitem data, formatting them as html and using WebBrowser's printdialog command. You can do the same in an addin. From an addin you should able to get access to all these data and have your own print menu to print in your format. Let me know if you need help with addin. The WorkItemPrinter class in controls assembly has the printing code.

Thanks. That is just the information I was looking for and will do quite nicely. Thanks!
