I have a couple of reports on a WinForm application that use the ReportViewer from VS 2005 (SP1). It's based on a local Access DB, nothing fancy really. It prints and exports on most workstations without problem. Except a few workstations, when you print the report, it crashes immediately and starts the reboot cycle. It's a most spectacular crash but still it's not impressing anyone who wants to see the report. The export to PDF works on that same workstation.

Any ideas I am wondering if it has something to do with the particular print driver since print drivers run in Ring 0 (or whatever) and are the only thing I know of that can cause an immediate crash. No blue screen, just an immediate power down.

We are also seeing this problem. Out of 400 of our customers, it has been reported by 8. I don't have info on the print drivers used, but can try to obtain this information. Something in SP1 broke - we received a rash of support calls soon after we shipped an update containing SP1.

Do you mean SP1 of the ReportViewer If I downloaded the previous version and installed it on the desktops of the users who are experiencing the problem, I should have some kind of > 0 expectation that the problem will go away

Sorry I wasn't clear. The SP1 version has the problem. Not sure about the post-SP1 version. We're having a customer test it this week.

Hi I am facing the same problem.

I am using Windows ReportViewer control in C#.NET application. Yesterday when I say print it print one page and then crash. Today morning I played around and was using Print Preview and it was working fine. Then suddenly it started crashing without printing anything.

Any help would be appreciated .

Thanks,

H

Our customers are still experiencing the problem with the post-SP1 drop.

Can you post the details of the drivers

This is probably a stupid thought, but JIC: does everybody at the customer site have the same problem with the same printer If not, have you checked driver versions across boxes (and are they all on the same OS, btw)

I was having the same problem and found that it only occured if there was any colour other than black in the report. Removing all colour solved the problem.

Many thanks to Harsh Desai for the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/ kbid=935843

It was a problem with a print driver as I expected (because it was able to shutdown the machine). It only appears on the following printers:

? Ricoh LAN Fax Driver
? Gestetner P7026n PCL
? Ricoh Laser AP2600N PCL
? HP LaserJet 9050
? HP LaserJet 4200
? HP 4050 PCL6
? HP LaserJet 4345 PCL 6

The printer that was connected to the workstation was in the HP LaserJet 4200 family. The link above references a fix and after that was installed, everything worked.
