    - Document workflow on TFS? The short answer is that TFS currently, whether you use SCC or WSS, doesn't provide a full solution. To me, a full solution includes: Workflow Web access Traceability (link doc to work item) Branching/Labeling Querying I will say that our direction is to use WSS to handle documents for TFS-based projects, and continue to enhance that integration to get a full solution. For now, to get the branching/labeling, you'd have to handle that manually with WSS, that is, copy the files to a new document library to create the "branch" Having said that, I believe there is a strong case for SCC, especially if whoever is writing the requirements doesn't have an aversion to working VIsual Studio / TFS / Source Control.     - Support of IDE's that don't have integration support We have developments for embedded platforms that don't always use Visual Studio IDE or have an IDE that has support for MSSCCI. Some of the areas that these developers are having problems with: 1. When performing a checkin on a folder, is there a way to have the SCE check for new files in the folder and add those with the ones that are being checked in. 2. When performing a checkin on a folder, if files are deleted, is there a way for the checkin to continue until completion and then have the warning about files being deleted.     - which is the Start and end API function for any operation in MSSCCI Hi all, I am developing Source control plugin using MSSCCI APIs. I am showing one progress window whenever source control API functions get called. I observed that the functions get called with different sequence for different operations. And for single operation many API functions get called sequentially. Currently I am showing progress window in every API function start and hiding it at end of that API function. I can not keep it in SHow mode because I don't know which next function get called in sequence. So My progress window get flickered because of show and hide in every function. I want to make progress window stable. i.e. show progress window when first API function get called and hide at the end of last API function. Is there any common function that MUST get called at start and end of any source control operation At least is there any last function that always get called for any operation so that i can hide progress window at single location. I observed that for every operation start and end operatoin entry in source control output window.     - Keeping database and code changes in sync Well, we decided on option 4, which is working good so far: We branched the code for our database project in TFS. The DBA does all of his work in his branch. Now he can check anything in whenever he wants because he's checking into his branch and it's not going to get into our build until we merge it into the main trunk. Then, when the developer working on that feature is ready, they merge the SQL code changes over from the DBA's branch to the main trunk, make the code changes, and then check it all into the main branch together.     - visual studio database projects Well - you can't get there from here No, seriously - I think you need to get the stored procedure into the Project. Once the Project is established, we don't reference the original database any more at all (unless you make it your outgoing target, in which case we recognize it at deployment time). Our model is in the Database Project, and if the stored procedure isn't in the Project, then we know nothing of its existence. And therefore, of course, can't evaluate it for the changes. I'm curious - is there a compelling reason to keep this procedure out of the project Obviously you want to update it at the same time you update it underlying table - otherwise, it's, well, broken. So what is the advantage of excluding it from the project Remember, if you just want to add it as a single SP, you can always script the procedure out of the database and then use DBPro's Project/ Import Script to add it into the Database Project, even tho' the project already exists...     - MSSCCI Source Control Bindings - relative vs absolute pathing We've always had problems branching projects in VSS in that we have always had to remove the source control bindings and replace them every time we branch. The behavior we see is that we can branch just fine, but when we open the branched solution in VS2005, the projects are all pointing to the location we branched from, and any checkin/out will happen in the old branch, not the new one. However, recently a colleague had great results just branching a solution in VSS (6.0) and doing a get on the solution in VS2005, and the bindings were fine - the projects under the solution were already pointing to the new branch without having to unbind/rebind. I started looking at the source control sections between solutions, and I noticed something strange. Some of our solutions use relative pathing to the VSS source control locations and some use absolute pathing. The ones that use absolute pathing have the binding issues, and the ones with relative pathing work just fine without unbinding/rebinding. Here is what we see with solutions that have relative pathing to VSS: SccProjectUniqueName3 = Desktop\\CONNECT\\ApplicationAdapter\\DirectPro\\CONNECT.ApplicationAdapter.DirectPro.csproj SccLocalPath3 = . Whenever someone on the team attempts to build the solution an exclusive lock is granted and these DLLs are automatically checked out.     - Get latest of files in a solution file through the command line It is very hard to write this kind of tool, because you need to process sln, project and suo files. Suo files are binary and I don't know if their format is public. The reason you would need to play with them is because paths in the other files (sln/proj) are not always the correct after you do "Open from Source Control". Instead of changing them, Visual Studio adds translation table in suo and changes the paths on the fly. Your tool would need to do this if you want to handle all kinds of solutions/projects scenarios. Depending on exactly what it is you intend to implement, you could probably do it using embedded code in the fields. However, if you're extracting data from two or more tables according to a query (or doing the logical equivalent of a query through some other means), then a table is the most obvious and arguably easiest to use construct for holding and passing around the results. The ReportViewer also makes displaying data from a single table a snap. You may try to start the VS 2003 with administrator account explicitly to see if the problem still exists: Right click the VS 2003 shortcut. Select ‘Run as’ menu. Select admin account. About automatically send credential to server. But it seems that you need not to do it. You could mark your host as a trusted site (Tools -> Internet Options -> Security), and then tell IE to send credentials automatically to sites in the trusted zone. With Trusted Zones highlighted in the tab, click "Custom Level". Scroll down to the bottom and select "automatic login with current username and password". Yes. Current version of VSTS doesn't support UI testing automation tools for window based apps also.
