Currently we're using the generic 'Database Project' in Team System Developer and I'm looking into switching the database people over to DataDude.

Unfortunately some of our developers need to create and/or modify some of the database objects (mostly stored procs and tables).

Can anyone point me towards something outlining how this works or possibly just share success or failure doing this

Thanks!

Well for anyone following along at work/home...

Just got my MSDN stuff set up (new job) and I plan on checking out interop of the two products tonight.

I'll post info, in the meantime if anyone has any tips, they'd be appreciated. :D

I'm not quite sure what you are asking here. Data Dude is all about allowing developers to modify and udpate any SQL object. It's been a while since you posted - do you have more information you could add that might help us answer your question better

Are you using the Visual Studio 2005 Database Project (.dbp) or Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals (.dbproj) projects. Based on your question I am guessing the first.

Gert / Chuck...

This is an old post when I was looking into how the new database project (and/or it's files) could be edited by folks without Datadude.

After reviewing Datadude, I would love to switch our DBA's to use it but unfortunately our developers need to be able to edit the stored procs.

Since managment doesn't want to essentially double our VisStudio licensing (so the devs have Datadude) we're not allowed to switch over to using it.

If you get the chance to read this, I ask you to please consider having a small plugin/addition/etc to VSTS-Developer to allow folks to have functionality with the new database projects that is comparible to the "old" database projects.

You folks have done a great job with Datadude, it filled a big hole. But I know lots of database people that can't move to it due to the incompatibility with VSTS-Developer.
