We have created custom work items to see if we can improve our work flow for certain projects. After a while we found that we did not need those work items and now have all this extra column information that is empty in our queries on Team Explorer. For example, we created a field called user accepted, we don't use that any more, now our team query shows that field as an optional filter.

Is there a "Safe" way to clean up the database so that this will not show up anymore I gave only 1 example but we have 20 fields that are really not used.

Thanks in advanced

You can delete work item type fields from an existing project using witfields command-line tool. For more information refer to http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms404864(VS.80).aspx

That worked great! I was able to view unused fields and then delete as necessary. Thank you.
