We are deploying Team Foundation throughout our company.  One of the most requested missing features is a search tool much like Windows Desktop Search or the Outlook 2007 Search features.

Basically, my users don't want to go through all of the steps to construct a throw away query just to perform a basic search.

Please make this easier; think google like interface.

Thanks,

It's on the radar - WDS actually has a plugin mechanism that you could code to today. There's multiple different search mechanisms that either already exist (like WDS) or will soon be available - trying to find the right one(s) for TFS search (both for WIT and other pieces like version control) is interesting.

I've wanted the same thing in my own dogfooding of the product - it's certainly nicer to be able to do a "free text" search on all fields instead of having to specify which field(s) you want to query against specifically. We hear you :)

Is there a plan as to when such thing would be available. It is such a big pain to build a query to perform a simple search. I don't understand why this did not make the RTM version. Did the people that build the tool used it

We do use this product with many users. See Brian's blog on our usage statistics: http://blogs.msdn.com/bharry . You can use an addin for now and here is link to such a tool: http://blogs.msdn.com/narend/archive/2007/03/08/live-like-or-google-like-keyword-search-tool-for-workitems.aspx
