Hi - I'm trying to import an existing schema and it fails every time. The database contains about 300 tables and 4500 columns. The wizard seems to run fine and the window closes. The in the schema-view it shows "Loading...", but it never loads.

I've heard that this is a known issue - are there any known workarounds

Ben

I have seen issues like this in the past. It was usually when there was a large database import combined with adding to source control, though given enough time it would eventually load.

  • Are you preforming an add to source control as part of the wizard steps
  • Do you have the CTP of our Service Release installed
  • What other objects are in the database being imported
  • And just so I know for sure, You are on RTM and not a Pre-RTM Technology Preview (CTP6, CTP7, or earlier ) The problem that you are describing was a much bigger issue on the Pre-Release versions.

This is a duplicate. See: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=1540319&SiteID=1

  • No - not adding to source.
  • I believe that I'm running the RTM, but I'm not sure how to verify that. In the About box it shows version : 2.0.50727.251. This is the only version I've ever had installed. Other people on the team have tried this and it fails for them too.
  • I'm not sure what you mean about "what other objects are being imported" - I'm just choosing the default for everything, so as far as I know all of the database objects are being imported.
