When I press the Report Builder button on the report site homepage, nothing happens. I can see that IE is trying to open reportbuilder.application on a the report server, but I do not see any dialog requesting me to allow the application to run. When I log in on another PC with the same credentials I can create reports using Report Builder.
These are the details I get when running the application directly from the server.

Re: Team Foundation Server - Reporting & Warehouse Nothing happens when pressing the Report Builder button.

I noticed that "Intranet_Same_Site_Access", "Intranet_Same_Directory_Access" and "Trusted_Same_Site_Access" groups were not available in the Machine codegroups of .Net 2.0. I imported them from a system where the Report Builder did work, but this did not seem to make any difference. Finally I repaired (install - repair) .Net2.0 distributable and now everything seems to work. Don't know exactly what was wrong.

Hi,

I'm glad you were able to fix the problem. If you have more questiosn about Report Builder, you can post your questions on the SQL Reporting Services forum:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowForum.aspx ForumID=82&SiteID=1

We know there are perf and usability problems using Report Builder with TFS, so we don't recommend using it. We recommend using Report Designer. Please see this post for more details:

I get the same problem, and have reinstalled .NET 2.0 with no luck. Any ideas

I am seeing the same issue for all users that click on the "Report Builder" link on several different servers. However when I log on locally it works fine. Can this be caused by network policy settings

Re: Team Foundation Server - Reporting & Warehouse Nothing happens when pressing the Report Builder button.

HenkT

I am connecting to Reporting Services running on the same machine, and am logged in as an admin on the machine.

I either get nothing happening or an error while installing Report Builder "Unable to retrieve application files. Files corrupt in deployment" with details as below.

Funny thing - if I connect from another workstation to this machine, it works.

The "server" in question has VS 2005 (8.0.50727.42) installed

Re: Team Foundation Server - Reporting & Warehouse Nothing happens when pressing the Report Builder button.

Gabriel Lozano-Moran

Finally figured it out. Apparently this is related to policy settings, or at least in my scenario. In the Security Settings for the Local Intranet Zone the following settings were disabled under the .NET Framework-reliant components node:

  • Run components not signed with Authenticode
  • Run components signed with with Authenticode

This was hard to figure out because the Network Policy Settings does not allow to see nor change the settings for any of the zones otherwise I could have easily spotted this. If you are a local admin you can still change these settings using the Group Policy editor (gpedit.msc)

I hope this can help anyone in the future...

Gabriel,

That solution helped me out a ton. It fully resolved this issue. Thank you!
