Hi everyone,

I am having a problem printing "selected heading and all subtopics" in a Sandcastle produced CHM. Does anyone else have this problem.

To reproduce:

  1. Open Sandcastle produced CHM
  2. Click on one content "books"
  3. Click Print or right click and select print
  4. Select "Print the selected heading and all subtopics"
  5. Click on OK
  6. This is where I receive multiple "A runtime Error has occurred. Do you wish to Debug Line 8 Error: Object expected" Yes/ No
  7. I select No for all of them.
  8. The print dialog comes up select OK
  9. Another single - Do you wish to Debug Line 8 Error: Object expected" Yes/ No
  10. I select No
  11. Nothing prints, but I expected that.

I still see this as an issue with the CHM output from the latest internal version we are testing. I am going to try my best to get this fixed for this weeks' release of Sandcastle. I will keep you updated Noral.

With September release we build the CHM using CHMBuilder tool of Sandcastle. We do not see this issue in HxS but do notice in CHMs. After further investigation I found this bug is not related to chmBuilder. After some investigation, I believe it's a bug of Microsoft html help 1.3. See the link below.

CAUSE

To print multiple Help topics, HTML Help concatenates the BODY sections of each Help topic into one large temporary file. Links to external resources, such as graphics, style sheets, and scripts, may not be present in this file. Therefore, Microsoft Internet Explorer cannot locate these resources when it renders the file and then prints the file.

I am sorry that I will not be able to help you with this issue in our September CTP but will definately try to see if we can use the workaround in the KB but it may affect our core content built in HxS.
