All:

I have deleted a project from TFS using TfsDeleteProject. However, the command did not seem to completely remove the project.

I can still get to the folders in Source Control Explorer. The option to view deleted items is turned off. This doesn't seem to be the intended behavior, because I have deleted a different team project, and it does not show up in the list anymore.

If I try to run TfsDeleteProject again, it returns an error saying that the project was not found. If I try to delete the folder for my project in Source Control Explorer, I get error TF10169: Unsupported pending change attempted on team project folder Use the Project Creation Wizard to create a project or the TfsDelteProjectTool do delete one".

Does anyone know what might have gone wrong, and how to clean up after this

I have answered my own question, and I thought I would share it with everyone:

After I run TfsDeleteProject, I need to go into Source Control Explorer, right-click on the folder (the team-level folder, one level below the root), and select "Get Latest Version".

The latest version is deleted. Believe it or not, doing that will remove the folders from view.

I tried you approach and i got the below message:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Source Control Explorer

All Files are up to data.

No files were updated because the requested file versions were previously downloaded.

to fore an update, use the "Get Specific version" command with the "Force get..." option checked.

I have since had the same problem. I was removing several team projects from a test server (it's a non-production server; we're figuring out how we want to arrange everything). The first few worked using my method, but with my last project, I got the same error. I haven't been able to do anything with that project.

Further, I've created some new projects, and deleting those projects "just works", with no special procedure. I'm not sure why the other projects did not work. There must have been some operation that I performed that caused the situation where I could not delete the team project. I had been experimenting with branching and with baseless merges in the projects that gave me problems. Perhaps creating a branch, merging the branch, or performing a baseless merge somehow caused problem where I could not delete.

I am going to remove the "answered" attribute from my previous post.
