Hi,

is there a possiblity to set a permission to some tfs user which don't allow them to create a work item.

This user should use work items only in case of update the fields e.g. status and so on.

Summary:

The User can watch and edit a work item but he is not allowed to create a new work!

thx!

There is nothing you can just set to do what you are asking. You can take advantage of the transistions of the workitem and not allow a user to save when it goes form nothing to another state.In essence you are blocking the user from saving a new workitem.

Do you mean the Workflow

How can I set permissions in the Workflow

Or what do you mean exactly with "take advantage of the transistions..."

thx in advance

Hello Tim,

Based on my understanding,

Paul's suggestion should be you can add Transition Security to the Transition of creation.

Here is an example:

<TRANSITION from="" to="Active" not="[project]\SpecialUserGroup">
<REASONS>
<REASON value="New">
<REASONS>
</TRANSITION>

SpecialUserGroup user cannot create the item from null ("") to "Active".

You can try it.

Good luck.
