    - Sandcastle stumbling over WSE 3.0 I can't say for sure, but it could be case where the dependency it is trying to load may be dependent on something else that hasn't been loaded yet and isn't in the folder so it's failing because of that. You might try examining each of the assemblies with something like Reflector to figure out all the dependencies and make sure that they are all accounted for and present. Here's the result which is shown to me when running DEPLOY in the local VS: DEPLOYFLAVOR=VS TESTVARWZ=user_bottom2 TESTVARWZ1=PreDeployScript TESTVARWZ2=PreDeployScript TESTVARWZ3=PreDeployScript As you can see, the DEPLOYFLAVOR is not even being read from the .dbproj file. TESTVARWZ IS being read from the .user-file, but the other's still have the same value from the PreDeploy script and have not "received" the setting from the .dbproj file!! I am also not meaning to "merge" variable-values, but the collections. I believe the MSBuild style of handling multiple ItemGroups with the same data is to merge. I am not sure what one Property (SetVariables) in multiple locations does. I tried finding out in the .user file (see TESTVARWZ) and it seems as though in this case, the whole last property "wins". I am not sure why you are using a Property for the variables. It would make much more sense using an ITEM (ItemGroup).     - TFS Orcas Beta 1 Setup Hi everyone, I recently downloaded the TFS Orca's Beta 1 from MSDN and I was trying to install the beta on a server that is running SharePoint 3.0. I was under the imression that the current "production" release of TFS supported SharePoint 2.0 natively out of the box and that the next release of TFS would support SharePoint 3.0 natively. However, when I run the Orcas Beta 1 installer, after the system scan, it says that I need to have SharePoint 2.0 installed with the latest service pack. What's the deal with the Orca's not using SharePoint 3.0 I need to do a proof-of-concept for the boss and I needed a TFS version that supported SharePoint 3.0. It does not affect the compilers or the project files (makefiles) one way or the other. For details on MSBee, I would ask in the MSBuild or Team Build forums.     - Team System, Project and Work Items I've got a semi complicated solution that I'd like to implement in Team System for our current business. We develop small pieces of software who's development follows a relatively common process. For each new development there are a number of tasks which remain static such as order hardware, set up hardware blah blah. We also follow a relatively fluid software development process which in some cases is obviously dependent on availability of hardware, nothing new here again. What I'd like to do is using Team System and Project is be able to automate as much of the red tape of this as possible. An example: We kick off a new mini project and begin capturing our requirements. At the kick off point I want to be able to create a new instance of Work Item type Mini Project which is already set up with the states of our software development process. When the new Work Item is created I want this action to automatically generate a number of other Work Items (simple tasks that have states of Active and Completed) for me. These small tasks should be linked to the main Mini Project Work Item type specified above. Then I want to be able to open MS Project, sync the latest tasks, update the scheduling information, resources and predecessors and updates the work item types.     - Cannot Uninstall/Reinstall/Repair/Install I was seeing the very same errors you have all posted. I am glad to say that I have found a solution! You want to empty the "Patches" REG_MULTI_SZ in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\Installer\Products\845140B1CB334714B879DA9C7B494888\Patches It will get you to the point where you can use the DVD to reinstall or repair the Gold version and then proceed to apply VS2005 SP1. In my case, I had installed the patch against the remote debugger vulnerability back in December. The installer for this patch didn't seem to register everything properly on my Windows 2003 Enterprise Server machine. Deleting patch registration against 845140B1CB334714B879DA9C7B494888 (Visual Studio 8/2005) is not a supported thing to do, but it will get you out of the bind where the product cannot be upgraded, removed or repaired.
