File has checkout and change done by other developer and checkin the file from remote access through VPN yesterday. No errors or warnings encountered while checkin the file.

Presently

1. The File is not showing as checked out to the developer. File content is updated with the change in other developer workspace.

2. The View History of file is not updated to show the yesterday change of file through remote access.

3. The other developer is unable to checkout the file now to make the changes reflect in server though the file is not checked out by any other. Even if the content is changed, the checkout is not showing in the solution explorer.

Can anyone help me out to resolve the above as early as possible I need to work on the changed files.

Hi,

Do you get the same symptoms if you try to check out the file or review the file history through Source Control Explorer It might be source control bindings for the project got corrupted and you are unable to properly operate the source control from Solution Explorer as the result. To verify the bindings, go to File -> Source Control -> Change Source Control... - all project and solution bindings should be valid there.

Yes, all projects and solution bindings are valid when i checked in Change Source Control.

This is a tough one. Let me ask a few questions to get some details.

What is the full path in the tree to the item you want to get checked out

If you turn on Show Deleted Items in the Source Control Explorer are there any deleted items in the folder

Can you go to the command-line, swtich the directory and run tf dir /deleted <full path of parent folder>, let me know the result

Does this developer have 1 or more workspaces on this machine

Thanks

Full path for the item is

$/xProject/Main/Services/Source/Service Interface/Services.ServiceImplementation/service1.cs

There are no items deleted in the folder (showing deleted as pending change). I am not sure how to turn on Show Deleted Items in Source Control Explorer

The developer is having one workspace only.

One thing i want to confirm is

There are 2 solutions under single folder. Working on two solutions simultaneously (checkin, checkout), will it affect anyway like the above problem

Is it suggestable to have more than one solution under a folder

To turn on Show Deleted Items in Source Control Explorer:

Tools > Options > Source Control > Visual Studio Team Foundation Server. Check "Show deleted items in the Source Control Explorer".

Multiple solutions under a single mapped folder is normal.

Is it possible that the other user has deleted the file and re-added a newer copy of the file Try the following command to see if this was the case: tf history /slotmode $/xProject/Main/Services/Source/Service Interface/Services.ServiceImplementation/service1.cs

When the other developer fails to check-out the file, what is the error

Thanks. -Tan
