Re: Team Foundation Server - Setup When I install TFS 2008 Beata2 on WIN2008 , receive the Error 28806.

Matthew Hoover - MSFT

IĄ¯m sorry that you are having problems installing TFS. In order to figure out what is going wrong, we are going to need to get some more information. What configuration are you trying to install

1. Is this a new install of TFS 2008, or is it an upgrade from 2005

2. Is this a single server install, or is it a separate application tier and data tier install

3. What version of SQL server and Report Server are you using (Including SP level)

4. What version of SharePoint are you using

5. Are you using a pre-installed SharePoint or an existing SharePoint installation

Please also post the relevant parts of the install log. James ManningĄ¯s blog has a post on how to find the setup logs at http://blogs.msdn.com/jmanning/archive/2007/07/21/i-m-having-problems-with-tfs-install-upgrade-repair-uninstall-where-are-the-log-files.aspx.

Re: Team Foundation Server - Setup When I install TFS 2008 Beata2 on WIN2008 , receive the Error 28806.

Robert Horvick MSFT

In your first post in this thread you pointed to another thread (http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx PostID=244612&SiteID=1) - this thread has two potential solutions at the end. Have you tried using the provided solutions (changing the RS account credentials or restarting reporting services) and if so what were the results

Also - can you tell me how you installed WSS3 Did you let the TFS installer perform the installation or did you perform it manually Is SharePoint installed on website ID "1" or on another website (I can help you figure this out if you do not already know how to check).

Finally can you open the Reporting Services Configuration Tool (installed with SQL 2005) and verify that the reporting services configuration is correct Basically you should see that the virtual directories, database and accounts are all correct (green icon) and that the reporting server instance is initialized.

Thanks.

Robert.

liujj_xujj,

After one week I've marked the last post as the answer - if you need additional help please reply to this thread or create a new one and we can pick it back up.

Thanks.

Re: Team Foundation Server - Setup When I install TFS 2008 Beata2 on WIN2008 , receive the Error 28806.

liujj_xujj

1 I have tried use these solutions , also wrong

2 I install WSS3 on WIN2008 CTP June , I use WIN2008 role to install WSS3.

3 I open the Report Services Configuration Tool only can see one Instance : MSSQLSERVER

and I can connect it.

and I can see Server Status is Start

Report Server Virtual Directories name is ReportServer, Website is Default Web Site

Report Manager Server Virtual Directories name is ReportServer, Website is Default Web Site

Database Setup servername is WIN2008(PC Name) , database name is ReportServer ,

Initialized is ok.

These are all correct(green icon)

but execution account was yellow icon.

Thank you.

I try to use SQL Management to connect ReportServer. That's wrong.

Re: Team Foundation Server - Setup When I install TFS 2008 Beata2 on WIN2008 , receive the Error 28806.

Tony Edwards MSFT

If you install WSS yourself (the only option under Longhorn) then there are provisioning steps that you need to take. It looks like you might be missing exclusions for the reporting site (based on what was returned). You can add exlcusions using the "stsadm addpath" command. There are other manual provisioning steps that need to be taken: Sudhir has posted a script on his blog:

http://blogs.msdn.com/sudhir/

Search for "provisioning WSS3.0" and you should find it.

thanks,

Tony

Re: Team Foundation Server - Setup When I install TFS 2008 Beata2 on WIN2008 , receive the Error 28806.

liujj_xujj

I use "stsadm addpath" command.

STSADM.EXE -o addpath -url http://localhost/Reports -type exclusion
STSADM.EXE -o addpath -url http://localhost/ReportServer -type exclusion
But these two command say 'Access denied'.
Now what can I do
thanks
thank you

Hi Liu,

Did you solve your problem regarding the error when you connect to reporting service, have you checked iis default site settings since after you installed wss role, if you use 80 port, then default site will be disabled, if this is the case, then changing default site to i.e 480 and modify <UrlRoot>http://home:480/reportserver</UrlRoot> in rsreportserver.config.

Can you share more your experience of installing TFS2008 on win2008
