It's like buying a Porsche to drive to the grocery store. The problem is that I have paid for the program, and I want to be able to use it.     - Query on Custom Controls!!!! I have a custom control, a textbox, and i have to display the same control at different areas of the form say at two different tabs. The problem im facing is , one of my tab is divided into two colums width "columnnwidth=50" each and other s not divided , When i inherit the same control at these two tabs, there appearance is different, one fits in the column properly and other wont. Unlike fieldcontrol, which docks perfectly into the tab based on columnwidth, custom controls dont, there size is fixed. I have ouputted my dlls in \bin folder and my solution is building fine. Just wanted to know if thats a right approach or you could suggest any other way that is best. That's not really the right approach, you should build debug and release files into separate folders. I suspect what is happening now is that your release build is using the ControlLibrary.dll that was made by a debug build.     - Mirror entire DB We are looking for a way to "mirror" our entire vss database onto our secondary server. We would like it to be a live copy of our main database. If it can work in a similar way to "shadowing" a project, we want the entire database to be copied on the fly while retaining all of the database's shared (linked) files. To clarify, this means that if a file were to be added or shared in the main db, the same exact thing would happen in the mirrored version of the db. The purpose of this would be having an exact copy of our db at all times in case the first server goes down. If there is a way to do this, or something like this, please help.     - How to incorporate modified column in existing Report It sounds like though your tables changed, you did not change the data source of the report. For example, if the report relies on a query or a stored procedure, check them to be sure that the new fields have been added. Once you have added the new/changed fields to the query or sp, do the "Verify Database" again and it should work. Good luck!     - Controlling a debugger option programmatically I'm debugging a VSTO-based plug-in for Outlook. There is a debugger option, "Enable property evaluation and other implicit function calls" which, when enabled can cause the debugger to hang. It's understandable: the debugger is trying to make a call into a COM object to in order evaluate the property and that call is deadlocking. The VSTO stubs should probably have some attribute on them to prevent the debugger from evaluating those properties, but that's not the point of my question. What I'd like to do is have a toolbar button or something which lets me toggle that debugger option so that when I'm debugging the code which manipulates the object model I can turn the option off, then turn it back on when I'm debugging other code.. However, there doesn't appear to be a way of getting to it through the object model.     - Problems testing unmanaged C++ VS2005 Hi, My current setup looks something like this: ProjectA (.exe unmanaged C++) UnitTest.dll (to test ProjectA) The unit test is set with /clr and have a dependency to ProjectA. The projects seem to compile fine, but when I run a test I get the following message: Error: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E) When I debug the test, I can see that it hits a breakpoint at LoadFromContext. The error is: The assembly named 'Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.ExecutionCommon' was loaded from 'file:///C:/Program Files/Microsoft Visual Studio 8/Common7/IDE/PrivateAssemblies/Microsoft.VisualStudio.QualityTools.ExecutionCommon.DLL' using the LoadFrom context To be sure that this is not a problem with finding the DLL, I've added the Microsoft Visual Studio 8\Common7\IDE\PrivateAssemblies to the PATH.     - Local Symbol NewPhoenixStudent, I have some bad news. It looks like the approach taken in the MsilCompiler sample doesn't work very well in more complicated cases. The root of the problem is that Phoenix actually has two scenarios where it emits MSIL -- one (call it "c2") to support compiling /clr, and one in the PE read/write case. The MsilCompiler sample mixes and matches components from the two scenarios, and while you can get pretty far that way, there are some limitations. In this particular case, the code ends up emitting the local signatures "c2-style" which makes certain assumptions that don't hold true. In the debugger I can force it to emit things "PE read/write style" and it gets us a bit farther before assumptions made in that scenario also fail to hold. I think it is possible to get farther along by not mixing scenario components and just sticking with PE read/write the entire way. This will mean emitting LIR instead of HIR, but for MSIL that's not a big conceptual shift. I would like to revise the MsilCompiler sample to show how this is done but can't really promise anything.     - use msbuild.exe to build part of projects under the same solution Hi 'msbuild', You can invoke MSBuild on the solution once for each project you want, specifying the project name each time. I don't have the syntax handy, but essentially set the environment variable "msbuildemitsolution" to "1" to emit the temporary .sln.proj that MSBuild creates from the .sln. Take a look in there (it's pretty horrible - not intended for human consumption) and you'll see there's targets for each project. You can build the solution specifying a particular project by specifying its target, using the /t switch on msbuild.exe. We don't advise that people pick up and modify the .sln.proj directly because it's an internal artefact that will change from version to version; also it won't keep in sync with changes to the .sln. Getting reporting projects and setup projects and solution files and .vcproj to support MSBuild is something we are working on. MSBuild is for certain the Microsoft build platform going forward; it's a matter of convincing the teams that own these files to make converting them a priority over other features. Actually my problem got solved few weeks back, I was unaware of the fact that I need to install Windows Media Player SDK, only after then Visual Studio 2005 shows the Windows Media Player Plug-in template in Wizards.
