I am considering visual studio 2005 (standard...) and want to download the trial but the website keeps forcing me to enter an order DVD page. Links that tell me I can either order the trial DVD or download the trial inevitably lead to an order page.

Could someone tell me how to download the trial

Thanks!

There are three VS trials:

  • Pro 180 day trial
  • Pro 90 day trial
  • VS Team Sutie 180 day trial

There is not a trial for VS Standard.

Trials are only available for download if you have an MSDN subscription. If you do not have an MSDN subscription, you will need to order a DVD or attend a VS event where the product is being given away.

As an alternative, you can also consider downloading and installing a Visual Studio 2005 Express edition.

Thanks.

I will probably download the VS Express C++ because this is what I would principally be using. I guess I just won't be able to try the class designer.

ahmedilyas,

I tried using the following piece of information provided in your link:

"Use a 3rd party tool to extract the contents of the image (like ISOBuster) and run the installation from the computer"

I have installed ISOBuster and tried to extract the contents of the imo file, (Visual Studio 2005 90 day trial) it but it doesn't seem to have worked as I have now got a file on my desktop called Track 01.tao that Windows cannot open.

Please help.

Thanks

ok. Have you tried the other approach, by mounting it on a virtual CD Such as using MSVCD or some 3rd party virtual CD tool

I finally was able to make it work when i renamed the file extension to ".iso" instead of ".img".  As soon as I did this my burning software recognized it.  Then I burned it to a DVD and then installed from the DVD.

When i finally installed the trial and made a quick app, i published it and found a temporary product key with my setup files.  Does this mean that my app will expire after 90 days   I am now using vb express and after creating some apps i happened to notice all of the sudden there was a temporary product key file in my solutions explorer with my other files.  Could this be some remnant mistake left over by the trial that wasn't removed during uninstall   I also found while developing my apps that occasionally i have found certain files missing (deleted) from my project.  And i did not delete them. Has anyone had similar problems
