have to transfer over a website over from a 2000 server to 2003 server. In the old server, the application is using crystal reports 9, and on the new server i installed Crystal reports XI. When i try to run a report that is generated by crystal, it comes up with the following error:

Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 800401f3'
Server.CreateObject Failed
800401f3

It crashes when it tries to initialize the application.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Does it crash in your browser or Crystal XI

I had a similar problem when upgrading from CR 10. IIS was running the reports via ASP 1 assemblies instead of ASP 2.0. There's a tab in IIS that you can use to configure the ASP version.

Hi Matt,

Thanks for responding, yes it does crash when i click on the link that opens up the report generated through ASP. I would appreciate if you could give me a hint as to where i could find that in IIS.

Thanks again

In the IIS console, right-click on the web site and view its properties. There should be an ASP.NET tab that allows you to change the version from 1.1.4322 to 2.0.50727. Going back over my documentation, the error I had was different to yours, so this may not be fix you need.

Not sure if others have had this experience, but this tab was missing on a server I had running Windows Server 2003 Standard. Good thing our production servers run Enterprise!
