Hello,

I found a good resource on MSDN in creating System Web Testing using MSVSTS 2005. But I can't find for Windows applications testing except Unit testing. Can someone share their knowledge how do I record scripts for windows based applications specific to WPF framework

Thanks,

Kotesh

Hi Kotesh,

I am sorry to say that there is no functional UI automation tests for windows applications in Visual Studio Team Test 2005 nor will there be for the next version, 2008, currently on beta 2. We are definitely looking at this for future versions, but there is no way to say when this will be done.

thanks

Hi Guillermo,

Thanks much for your update. But how about windows Load Testing Right now we are evaluating Team Test 2005 for our Windows (WPF) application Load Testing purpose. For that we need to capture client/server transactions through UI as business/user transactions. I don't see any help either on Team Test product help or on Microsoft Support website but at the same time I can't even find that it doesn't support Windows Load Testing. So what is your advise on this

Regards,

Kotesh

Update:

I got a reply to my other thread (Script recording feature in MSVSTS 2005) for the above related question as follows:

Kotesh, in VS2005 and VS2008 we have script recording only for Web Applications and recording for Windows applications is not available. But we are currently working on recording for Windows applications for next release (codename "Rosario", after VS2008). You can find information about it and download CTP releases here.

Hi kotesh,

What i can tell you about load tests is that they can execute any test that can be done individually. What i mean is, that if you can do it through some other test type(Unit test, Generic test, Web test, etc.) then load test can handle it, otherwise, there is no support for that.

hope this clears things out for you
