Due to the intracies of rendering html, its not a quick side project that a lot of people have posted on the net... Firefox/Netscape/Mozilla/Opera as well as IE are made from teams of developers over significant periods of time. Check out other projects on SourceForge...here is one to get you started:

In order for a project to be hosted on sourceforge it has to be open source. Also you can try to just use the .Net webbrowser control, but it uses IE for rendering, your probably not going to find any source for a webbrowser built from scratch in C#. If you really insist on doing this, read up on Compilers (specifically Lexical Analysis, and Parser) because your going to need it. Also you should read up some RFCs (Request For Comments) that will tell you how to handle HTTP and other protocols, and the expected behaviour of webbrowsers in the wild.
