I have developed a piece of software, created a cab file and and msi file to install it. If I am installing the software on a clean computer, it works just fine. but if I have installed the software on the PC before, and try to reinstall it. I am getting an error saying this software is already installed. It is seeing the .msi file on the PC that is installed.

what I am wanting to do is either uninstall the .msi if it is installed. or bypass the check and just install over the previous copy. So how do you uninstall or bypass the check for the .msi.

Burhan Ateeq MSFT

Hello,

In your solution, choose the setup project. In the properties grid choose the RemovePreviousVersions property and then choose true. Build and try.

Let us know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

thanks,

Burhan

In addition to Burhan response, if the setting is already true.

Make sure you increment the version no. and it will prompt you to change the upgradecode and accept it to change.(dont change the productcode)
