After I created Setup and Deployment project, I receive 2 file : Setup.exe and file .msi.
Why are 2 files created. If I delete Setup.exe I still run file .msi normally. But if I delete file .msi, file Setup.exe not enought to install my project.

I think 1 file .msi is enought for installing, why 2 files are created.

Pls give me the answer for this.

Thanks in advance.

What is a MSI

MSI is a database in itself. It contains information about product, files info, custom action info etc..... You can use Orca software top open up and see MSI ( it will open contents in table format ) .

SetUp is like Environment checker. Actually it uses the Same MSI data....

Last but not least, It is windows Installer who is the King for above things.

Hope it helps a bit :-)

setup.exe is a bootstrapper that installs any prerequisites you've named, and then runs your MSI file to install the actual product. You don't need setup.exe if you have no prerequisites.
