Hi All,

I have a question on .net SDK and .net redistributable package.

1. What is the difference between these 2.

2. When will the \\Microsoft SDKs\.netFramework\V2.0 key gets created in the registry

Thanks

Anjan

Hi Anjan,

.NET Framework Software Development Kit: includes libraries to develop .NET Applictions

.NET Framework Redistributable: includes runtime libraries to run .NET Complied Applications

Hi,

I am trying to confirm my understanding of what I read in here..

with out sdk we can not develop .net applications If I have framework 2.0 installed on my machine and no sdk, then I can run compiled applications but can not develop .net application on my machine.

I didnot test this as I have sdk and VS2005 installed on my machine and I dont want to uninstall them just to test this.

Thanks,

Madhusha

Hazzoom is right, and there should be no need to test this. The redist runtime is what you install on client systems to run .NET apps. You don't to install samples, documentation, and the rest of the stuff in the SDK.
