I'm looking for a way to change the default installation path, so that I can get rid of the "/Default Company Name". Anyone has an idea (Using VS 2005)

Hey it is very simple. Just follow these steps.

1) Opent your setup project.

2) Click on "File System Editor" icon

3) you will see three folders on left hand side of screen i.e "Application Folder" , "User's Desktop", "Users Program Menu"

4) Select "Application Folder" and press "F4" (Properties)

5) Modify "DefaultLocation" property in property dialog.

I was actually wondering the same thing, and tried your idea but ran into a problem. The "DefaultLocation" held [ProgramFiles][Manufacturer]\[ApplicationName] so I changed it to read [ProgramFiles]MyPath\[ApplicationName] and it decided that it was supposed to find the .msi file in that location instead of install to that path.

Any ideas

Thanks,
Mike

Did you really use [ApplicationName] That's not a valid property name.

Sorry, typo on my part. I found the error, too. The installation URL was still set, though I thought I cleared it. The above instructions worked great once I found my mistake.

Thanks,
Mike
