I would get "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" and the URL would start with: res://ieframe.dll/dnserror . . . After some heavy lifting, I eventually found the following KB article. It addresses both types of problems. You cannot open remote content by using the InfoTech protocol after you install security update 896358, security update 840315, or Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 http://support.microsoft.com/kb/896054 In your case, the UrlAllowList registry key should help. In my case, the MaxAllowedZone key helped.     - Builing a browser extension after migration to a new Project I am working on an Internet Explorer extension. After a lot of work was done, I needed to integrate it into another project. This worked almost perfectly, but now I get some linker errors: Errors XBrowser.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _LIBID_XBrowserLib XBrowserBHO.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _LIBID_XBrowserLib XBrowserBHO.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _IID_IXBrowserBHO Debug\zorba.dll : fatal error LNK1120: 2 unresolved externals XBrowser.h and XBrowserBHO.h are generated files.     - ie 7 links toolbar doesnt stick tried the post from IECUSTOMIZER and are still haivng the issue. copied it to a notepad and merged it with the registry. when looking at the registry code snippet it is the same as what is posted. using XP pro on a dell latitude D830. also running nortons sysetem works. have also disabled nortons from the add-ons. also disabled the popup blocker still no go. What about bitblt called in your toolbar resize event I assume you are using a rebar for your toolbar container Or am I missing something here Do you want to know when the user changes the Icon size choice on the Buttons Toolbar or Command bar (Ie7). That is a registry setting... I think in HKCU\Software\Micrsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbars there is a CLSID (IE796980....) value that holds the Buttons Toolbar layout settings (I think that is the value name... you will have to use the regmon utility to find the exact name of the value that is changed when the Buttons Toolbar icon size is changed) You would have to monitor that key to find out when it is changed, but there may also be values passed in the onPropertyChanged event of the Web browser. I have not seen any other toolbars for IE resize their icons (for example when a toolbar is placed on the same line as the buttons toolbar with large icons) Resizing icons should be automatic, with no codeing required, determined by system metrics settings of the user.     - Can't get IHTMLChangeSink::Notify to fire By chance, I have been using IChangeSink in the past, and as far as I remember did not have any problems. I used it to track when document is changed; apart from couple of unexplained calls to Notify (hwne design mode is activated, for example), it works as one would expect. Did you use the actual Change Log, or just Notify Notify itself works fine, I agree (presuming it fires OK). It is the rest of it I find somewhat perplexing.     - Can't get Explorer Bar to work in C# Hi, I have been unable to figure this out. I found a few online articles about writing Explorer bars and bands, but for some reason I can only ever get the band object to display. I don't even see a listing under View->Explorer Bars to enable it, only under Toolbars. I did check the registry entries, they look good. My code is essentially the same as posted at this article: http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/dotnetbandobjects.asp On that page it shows a screenshot with the control displayed twice on the screen. Once as a band, and then as a Horizontal Explorer Bar. I have never been able to see my system load an Explorer Bar written in C#. That's what I really want to do. I'm running VS 2005, so I manually put in the changes required for that. I'm running IE 7, it's possible it may work as an Explorer Bar in an older version, I don't know. If I click on a form field (textbox or textarea on this page) at the same time that one of my regular expression validators fires (making the page move down a bit), my text caret appears in a non-editable, standard HTML section of the page. I can then type away, or use backspace to remove static HTML that was there. If I press the enter key, the text caret moves to the field I initially tried to click on.     - Managed C++ Windows Form not showing up in IE Hi, I am trying to get a managed C++ Windows Form to come up in IE. This works fine when I build a C# Windows Form Control Library (with the regular htm syntax ID=dll name.namespace.class etc) However when I try the same experiment with Managed C++ it does not show up in IE. i.e. If I create a DLL that is a managed C++ Windows Control Form Library and put it in the Virtual directory and then reference it in my web page it does not show up. The exact same thing works with C#. I thought maybe it's because the IE would need the CRT. I made sure the client machine has the CRT and its path variable is set accordingly. But that does not work either. Finally, I wanted to get your opinion on whether this is a wise thing to try. There are not many artciles about managed C++ windows forms in IE (actually none that I could find). Ideally I would like to put the CRT dll's in my virtual directory and then expect them to be deployed together with the winform dll. But is this really possible Someone mentioned this might not be possible as the manifest that contains the location for the CRT is not downloaded. Anyway to summarize: 1. Is it possible to get a managed C++ WinForm to show up in IE If so any ideas on any potential gottchas All I have is a basic button in my win form, and that is not working... 2.     - Typing issue IE7 with Toolbars Hi Paul, Well, without seeing your code, it's hard to say whether or not it could be contributing to the problem, but since the behaviour disappears when you disable the version of Shockwave that you have installed, that suggests that it's the version of Shockwave and not your code. Most vendors have had to update their IE add-ons as a result of protected mode, UAC, and other changes made to Vista. If it were me, I would mosey over to Adobe's web site and install the latest version of Shckwave to see if that resolves the problem. The multiple versions of XML could be problematic. For more details, please see this blog post . There will probably always be some difference in add-on installation. Each user, after all, has different patterns. One may prefer Silverlight while another prefers Flash. The best practice, in my book, is to make sure you know why each add-on is installed and then to make certain you have the most recent version available. Hi Jack,

No known samples for Express editions and I doubt that you will be able to find one. You should try to load an ATL sample BHO project in your IDE, all of the required Headers and directives should be in there.
