Its a sound setting inside of Windows. It actually plays a lot when you go through options that render an IE page. Its more annoying in MySpace because of the essessive amount of .... stuff on the page.

To turn off go to:

1. Control Panel->Sounds and Audio Devices

2. Pick the Sounds Tab

3. Scroll to near to bottom of the list and look for "Start Navigation"

4. Set this to the top of the sound list "(None)"

I can confirm that 'boink boink' is not a windows standard sound. Have you tried running IE with no-addons

It should be in the start menu under Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

Yes I have tried, still the "beep beep" / "boink boink" Sad

Do you have any accessiblity features turned on Screen readers, voice activation, etc Some of these programs add extra sounds to Windows.

I am receiving the same "boop". it seems to happen when it loads images on web pages. Also, I started getting these beeps after inheriting a couple of Trojans. I eliminated the Trjoans but I am still receiving the "boop". I completely took out IE in Windows components, Registry and in Program Files and reinstalled it. Still, the "boop" is relentless...

Hi,

Check your Popup Blocker settings. Tools>Popup Blocker>Popup Blocker Settings, uncheck "Play a sound when a popup is blocked".

Also check the settings of anyother 3rd Party Toolbars that you have installed as they may have their own popup blocker. You may like to disable these 3rd Party Popup blockers as they can interfer with IE7's built-in popup blocker and as you know they can confuse/annoy the user.

Regards.

the sound that was posted is called cookiecrunch.wav. It is part of PestPatrol/CookiePatrol. I had this problem too, but this thread lead me to the problem. See PestPatrol help for how to get rid of it. Thanks!
