Hummm....not sure why this is happening, but the "Waiting for res://ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm..." message seems to be specific to IE7. There are'nt many references to it on the web. When I see the message, it's very temporary, and the page does load after that with no loss of connectivity.
I would agree with whomever suggested that it is a firewall issue. To troubleshoot this, I recommend disabling ZoneAlarm and any other firewall software (including the Windows firewall) temporarily to isolate that variable. If the problem still happens with the firewalls down, I would install FireFox and go to the same URL that is crashing IE7 to see if it is your browser that is causing the problem.
My opinion is that if you have the Windows firewall activated and configured properly, there is no need for any other firewall software, though ZoneAlarm will certainly disagree with this.
Irbuck,
I was having same problem on my laptop, although I had 2 other computers connected to internet w/ no problems: one directly and one thru wireless network.
I installed Firefox on the laptop and it is not working either though it doesn't give me any reason why, unlike IE7.
I saw another post on a related thread saying he had fixed problem by initializing the router w/ a pin in the pinhole at the back of the router and that now he could get online.
I tried this and it didn't work. Have you been able to access internet with Firefox
Sharon
Hi Jay,
I finally called PlumChoice and they told me that someone had manually changed the IP address on my computer and that was the reason--it was not automatically acquiring the correct IP address.
It was $25 for it to get fixed in 15 minutes--maybe you could have them fix one and you can watch them do it and then you could fix the other computers yourself.
