    - IE 7 Prompt for Cookies Hello, I'm currently working on a website and having a problem when Cookies are set to Prompt in IE7. What the application is doing is they are on a page a cookie is set (once they click Allow) then they redirect to a survey on another site, they fill out the survey and then are redirected back to my site. The Cookie expiry date is set to DateTime.MaxValue and yet it does not exist after the redirect. My guess is that once you leave your original site all cookies are deleted related to that site if you have Cookies set to Prompt.     - How to inject STYLE into a page (a final word) I have learned some things since my "final word" post that I simply must share. I feel a little stupid for not figuring this stuff out sooner, but no better time than the present! (I thank Justin Rogers for setting me straight.) I made several claims in my last installment to this thread that I now must RETRACT. You cannot delete stylesheet objects. WRONG. Having retrieved a stylesheet object from the document, you can delete it with removeNode(true) in IE, or with the following DOM-compliant analog: Code Snippet // Remove an existing stylesheet by ID var ss = document.getElementById('myStyleSheet'); if (ss) ss.parentNode.removeChild(ss); You cannot set the ID of stylesheet objects. WRONG. It may seem obvious, but IE is the only browser that allows you to create a stylesheet object with the document.createStyleSheet() method. When it does so, the object is returned to you fully formed; in other words, the requisite HTML has already been added to the document in the HEAD section. The ID attribute is read-only if you access the object as a stylesheet object, but NOT if it's a regular DOM element. Best to avoid createStyleSheet() altogether, and use the cross-browser friendly version here: Code Snippet // Create stylesheet object and append to HEAD ss = document.createElement("STYLE"); ss.id = 'myStyleSheet'; document.documentElement.firstChild.appendChild(ss); You cannot change stylesheet contents with innerHTML. RIGHT! but only on IE... For "security" purposes in IE, the innerHTML property of stylesheet objects is read-only. However, this is not the case universally. For a cross-browser approach, first try setting the rules all at once with innerHTML.     - IE7 and desktop icons JDECO You are absolutely correct. This has nothing whatsoever to do with favicons. The situation you describe is exactly the same as what I experienced except that I did not even get the icon with the e and the paper behind it, I got a different generic kind of icon, the first one in that .dll where we are supposed to be able to obtain changes in icons. Anyway, I started getting messages when visiting common sites like my Bank and the University of Maryland, telling me that those sites don't exist, so I finally just uninstalled IE 7.0 and re-installed Netscape 8.1 which is not much better but functional.     - registry entries for IE 64-bit toolbar hi, I have checked three GUIDs, which are generated by VS2005's GUID tool. I can install it OK on XP , Win2K and Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit IE32-bit, but only failed on Vista 64-bit's IE 64-bit(As you know, there are two IE on Vista 64-bit,one is for 32, the other is for 64). Also There are two registries on Vista 64-bit, One is for 32-bit applications, the other is for 64-bit applications. There is noToolbar registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\, while 32-bit registry does has such key. I think that is the reason why my dll failed. So I am wondering where I can register my dll. There must be a proper registry entry, from which IE 64-bit loads when It is opened. Thanks ! Header and Footer in the registry hold the same information you can set in the "Page Setup" menu, i.e., plain text, URLs, date and time etc. Unless you mean a different setting than the one I'm taking about.     - Side Search Bar shortcuts conflict with popup blocker in IE7 Hi, I have created a number of Side search bar shortcuts on my links toolbar to emulate the FireFox and Netscape Side Panel behaviour in IE7 and IE6. The side search bar shortcuts work just fine in IE6 SP2, with third-party popup blockers turned on or from about:blank. Side Search bar shortcuts allows users of public browsers to choose their search provider(in their language) for side bar searching and extends the number of Explorer bars that can be loaded by IE browsers beyond the menu limit of 8 horizontal and 8 vertical. Please consider changing the popup blocker behaviour for links with target=_search in the next update release. Regards.     - IE 6: PNG + CSS Filter = Alpha I'm creating a div using javascript. This div is absolutely positioned, top: 0, left: 0; height and width: 100%. It has a PNG as a background image, and I use css' filter property to make IE render the alpha channel. Inside this div, I have another one with an onclick event.     - link target doesn't work from outlook when using IE7 We have an intranet application that has been running for about 6 years. It has worked flawlessly until IE7 came out. Most everything works except email links with a specific target defined. Pre-IE7 when a user received a notification regarding a customer, they could click the link in outlook and the site record would open up in the mainframe if the intranet applicatin was opened, otherwise it would create a new window and force the user to login. All of the target links contained in the pages launched by the main window work flawlessly, but it is as if IE doesn't allow targets to be used from any window outside the created application.     - IE7 div not stretching to fill width I keep getting this and I can't find the fix to it anywhere.... please help! When a div doesn't have enough content to fill the width of the area the div doesn't fill the whole width. A gap will appear at the end of the div in IE7 browsers. I don't want to have to set fixed widths for the middle content section so that it can shrink to fit re-sizing the browser. I've tried everything I can think of. Setting the width to 100% breaks it because the left navigation pane or right pane will no longer float. It's probably something really obvious so I can't find it on blogs.     - IE7 and Windows Explorer Folder Hello, I would like to write some kind of addon or extension to IE7 that will allow an Explorer folder, for example C:\myProjects, to be opened directly inside of IE7 tabbed window; this will help my desktop from being so cluttered. Current, if I open a new "tabbed window" in IE7 and type in "C:\myProjects" in the address bar it opens an Windows Explorer folder outside of IE7. To me this makes no since since both IE7 and Windows Browser share the same underlying framework.     - Cannot access cookie from an Iframe I am a newbie, so any help is appreciated. My issue: Step 1 -- User logs in to site A (aspx page), username is saved in cookie. Step 2 -- User navigates to site B (asp page). Page on site B has IFRAME whose source page is another aspx page on Site A in which I am trying to access the cookie that was saved in Step 1, but IE cannot seem to access this cookie (it is null).     - IE6 & SSL/HTTPS (non-secure items) Hi, I have a strange behavior on my application using IE6. When accessing the site via HTTPS, everything is fine but when i mouseover my menu element (which is a simple <a> tag inside a <div>), i get the famous error: "This page contains both secure and nonsecure items.     - It's going around Hi guys, First of all I don't have the same problem as you guys (yet), but I saw 'WLLoginproxy.exe' pop up in Zonealarm and blocked access to read what it does first and found this site... I read you have no suggestions, and though I'm aware I probably will be totally wrong, I wanted to inform you about the following (especially after the first message, which hinted on a program running in the background and controlling IE7). I have some trouble getting rid of a highrated malware hijack application called 'searchgateway--- hijack' (i don't want to post the full link, beginning with 'www' , in the middle 'searchgateway' and ending in '.net/search' to prevent you from accidently clicking it. If you don't have this site blocked by your anti-spyware program, please do so now) I used several programs and removed (part of) it from the registry and I blocked changing the registry through Spybot S&D to a file that seems to change the registry and install search gateway over and over again. I need to find a way to totally remove it (still busy with it, i'm searching for the file (that tries to install) which seems to be some kind of temp-file..) I have also had CWS-aboutBlank (second highrated hijacker), and it looks removed, when I try to test with the non-registered version of Spyware Doctor (first it appeared in there). Still at times I get a 'blank page' before I start my standard page (search engine Metacrawler.com). Funny thing is, though these application only should attack IExplorer, also my Firefoxbrowser is not working very correct... so something attacks either both browsers, or more apps attack separate browsers... one of these programs at least is reported to bring in other malware also...     - IE7 protected mode affects cookies and ActiveX controls I have an ActiveX control that is instantiated by IE and downloads a data file from the web site. The file downloaded is determined in part by a cookie that has been saved by the containing page and included in the web request for the data file. This has been working in various flavors of IE on XP and Vista as an InprocServer control. However, there is a desire to convert it to a LocalServer control to protect the IE address space. As a LocalServer, though, it fails under Vista/IE7 with protected mode on. It appears that IE7 is maintaining a separate cookie store for protected mode, so when the ActiveX control is instantiated as a LocalServer it will no longer find the cookies saved by IE. I am using linked style sheet and using the position attribute to arrange items on the page. But the css are having no affects on the position. Is there anyway to make ie7 position these attributes.

I have had this problem before and i had to write the css within the same file as the html. Why is it that position on linked css file does not work
