    - IE7 - blue line on screen - computer locked up Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide on this problem. I installed IE7, no problem. I tried to open Yahoo mail and after opening, I had a small blue line in the middle of the screen and nothing would react to mouse clicks. The only way out was to end the program in task manager. Hotmail worked and my home page worked initially. On a subsequent try, after opening Yahoo mail, the blue line was again present and this time it appeared on my home page screen.(Hotmail still worked) It looks like something tried to open and then hiccuped. I've considered the possibility of it being my computer but......all was well BEFORE I installed IE7. Can this be uninstalled without trashing my OS. HELP!!     - XP Pro/IE7 Updates break script encoder output! I have a web site which contains pages with encoded client-side javscript code, and other pages which contain encoded server-side vbscript code. (The encoding was performed with screnc.exe, the script encoding utility.) Since updating my desktop machine this month with the latest XP Pro updates and IE7, server-side VBScript encoded scripts won't run. (The server environment is 2K3Server Standard, with all the latest updates.) The javascript code still runs correctly on the client side (tested w/ IE6 and IE7), but server-side VBScripts result in a http 500 error. I suspected that this was a side effect of recent updates to the desktop machine upon which I run the encoder. To test this hypothesis, I boooted in to a Win2K Pro partition on the same desktop machine and ran the script encoder there, then posted the encoded pages to the server. They ran correctly! So. VBScript server-side code, passed through the script encoder on an up-to-date XP Pro machine with IE7, crashes when run on an up-to-date 2K3 server. The same server-side VBScript code, passed through the script encoder on an up-to-date Win2K Pro machine with IE6, runs fine on the same 2K3 server. This was not an issue before (I believe) the latest round of Windows updates, including the installation of IE7.     - Cannot print frames if a frame contains non-HTML I have found with IE7 that if you have multiple frames and one of the frames contains non-HTML (e.g., pdf, doc), you cannot print the frame that has the non-HTML in it. This worked in IE6. For pdf files in the frame, nothing prints. For doc files in the frame you get output indicating it cannot be printed as laid out. Hopefully Microsoft can fix this bug. I would not need to have a frame with Word in it if Microsoft supported the widows and orphans styles but I have some paragraphs that I need to keep together and use Word to print as it can handle orphans and widows.     - Cannot access cookie from an Iframe I am a newbie, so any help is appreciated. My issue: Step 1 -- User logs in to site A (aspx page), username is saved in cookie. Step 2 -- User navigates to site B (asp page). Page on site B has IFRAME whose source page is another aspx page on Site A in which I am trying to access the cookie that was saved in Step 1, but IE cannot seem to access this cookie (it is null). Both sites are on different domains. I CAN access the cookie in step 2 when i use Firefox. Is this a limitation in IE what can I do to workaround this problem Thanks.     - If someone can help me I will buy you a CD from Amazon.com!!! BHO Register problem... I know that's kinda shameful and not what these forums are about, but I'm at my wits end here and I could really use the help. I am serious though, I have no problem buying a CD for someone(s) who can figure out my problem. Ok, here is the deal, I am fairly new to BHOs and I was working through the tutorial at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb250489.aspx . I created the dll in VS2005 C++ and was registering it with "RegSvr32 /s MyDll.dll", and it was working fine on my windows Vista machine. However, when I put it on my wife's computer, which has XP, and tried to register it using the "RegSvr32 /s MyDll.dll" it gave me the error: " Load Library("MyDll.dll") failed - This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect ." Like I said, it works fine on my Vista machine but not on my wife's XP machine, and what bugs me is that the tutorial I believe was created for XP! So it should work on XP right ! ! Anyway, I'm sure it's just some damn small fix that I'm overlooking, but I figured "What's a CD if it gets me past this headache ". So any help would be GREATLY appreciated, and I'm serious about the CD if you can fix this damn thing and get it to work.     - 100% page height, scroll with background color I have a page that I finally got to display properly in IE6 and Firefox. However, now it won't display properly in IE7. The page has height elements set to 100% and also has a background-color. There is an internal content div, also with 100% height and it's own background-color. When I scroll beyond the height of the window, all of a sudden, the nested div's background-color disappears and it looks like my content appears on a transparent background. I get the feeling this is a well known issue, though all the online resources where I have encountered others with this problem didn't have a solution.     - GET data affecting margins Hi all, I have an utterly bizarre ie bug for you that i have never seen before... I'm currently creating http://dev.nano2hybrids.net and when viewing the site in internet explorer there is a ~5px gap at the top of the page. This isn't so strange in itself, but when any rubbish get data is added to the page url, it dissapears! Even a single does the job (see http://dev.nano2hybrids.net/ ) I initially put a negative margin in an internet explorer only stylesheet, but when there is get data, the page moves up and the top is hidden. All css padding and margins and the rest are set to 0, and the page displays fine in every other browser that i have tried.     - Calling ActiveX function from Javascript Hi, From what I've heard, you're supposed to be able to call an embedded activex function or set one of its properties from the javascript in an html/asp page as long as the function or property is declared as public in the code. I have an activex control embedded in an html page with the object tag: <object ID="gis" classid="clsid:C9905EA4-468A-46c0-BCF4-49A547B3A2E6"> Then I try to call a public function of the control like this: <script> function showbox() { gis.ShowMBox(); } <script> All the function does is show a messagebox. I have an html button that calls the javascript function like this: <input type=button value="SetDoc" onclick="showbox()"> When I click the button which calls the javascript function, which in turn calls the activex function, I get a page error icon in the status bar, and when I double click it here's the error message I see: Line: 12 Char: 2 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method.     - SetSite not called in IE7 protected mode I have written a BHO that works in IE6 and IE7. However, on Vista on IE7 with Protected Mode on the BHO is never called (SetSite is not called). The BHO works on Vista on IE7 with protected mode off. The BHO shows in IE7 Manage Add-ons as enabled. What prevents a BHO from being called when protected mode is on. Pages using PHP sessions and external javascript in the head portion of the html document and which served from IIS 6 to IE 7 are not refreshing properly (displays blank on refresh).     - publishing Active content, quicktime movie problem hi, I'm after some help. I've inherited a mini-site which contains a series of linked quicktime movie files (panorama images). The site is using the old object & embed format, so has to be clicked on to be activated. I have tried changing the publishing method for the quicktime movie to the new 'AC_RunActiveContent.js' script in dreamweaver.     - ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# issue This afternoon, this problem happened to me. I searched microsoft web site to find the solution but all I got is forum contents. I am astonished and angry. So many people are looking for solution but Microsoft has not provided any solution. I tried everything after I read all the posts in Forum. I turned off my Norton 360's firewall then I could open web pages. With firewall on, it didn't work again. I can't let my computer run without firewall as my e mail accounts with hotmail and yahoo were hacked in sometime ago. Hacker even changed password, security questions, etc so disabling me from accessing these e mail accounts. Both hotmail and yahoo told me to open new accounts as the solution. Now I found Microsoft has not found solution to this ieframe.dll/dnserror.htm# problem. I disabled firewall for 15 min and downloaded firefox. Firefox works!!! I think Firefox is far superior product as it works while IE 7 is not working and Microsoft can't provide solution at all. Howcome Microsoft has not solve this problem yet As my Windows Vista is more than 6 months old since I got it and it is a part of OEM software in the computer, I have to pay 45 Pounds (US$90) plus 17.5% VAT for support by call or e mail. Ridiculous!! Try to use firefox. It may work as it worked for me. I wish more companies come up with better products than Microsoft or Microsoft does proper things and supports (otherwise where they will be if better products come to the market). Anybody has definite solution for this problem, please let everyone know and tell Microsoft for everyone's benefit. Don't buy RegCure software to solve this problem. I bought it in desperation and paid for it but result - NO CURE. Waste of money. I asked RegCure for solution or refund. I'll post the result when RegCure's Paretologic replies.     - IE7 protected mode hWnd problem hello, i'm trying to get the hWnd of a IWebBrowser2 control. if i'm working on xp, everything is ok. but with Vista - things different. hWnd returned is not valid. (IsWindow - fails) any ideas why It seems to me that because if you run iexplorer.exe in Protected mode, it runs ieuser.exe and it runs in its turn iexplorer.exe (with another Process ID). It seems that the hWnd is not of the second process... In IE7, it's as if the xslt stylesheet is ignored and it simply displays a white page with the content of the text nodes: "procRefresh_Precomp_SharedRu_Client_DistributedValue 2006-11-09 08:25:53 2006-11-09 09:23:53" If I remove lines 6 to 9, the page is rendered correctly (i.e. the stylesheet is applied and the complete HTML from the stylesheet is displayed, instead of a white page with a string). In most of my other pages, I usually put text information in attributes instead of in nodes and those other pages still work fine.     - Where is the best place to put settings button in IE 7? I'm developing BHO add-on for IE 7 and I need to have settings dialog for my app. I'm not sure what will be the best place to put button which will open the dialog. In IE 6 I would probably add button to the menu, but in IE 7 menu is hidden by default, so I don't want put my button there.     - IE 6 /7 closes without warning Hi and help.. I run Xp pro v 5.1 Sp2 on a dell 6400 laptop. I've started to get a problem with IE6 where it closes down without warning (which is very annoying!) I've run through McAfee updates and viruscheckers and removed anything vaguely suspicious and no change. I purchased REGcure and ran that as well removed varoius assorted 'problems' and still have the same problem. Finally i went for broke and downloaded IE7 in the hope that this would fix things. Nope.     - IE7 Start up problem Hi, I am having problems starting IE7. When I start IE7 it hangs for ages, maybe a few minutes before starting then everything runs OK. I don't think IE7 is the problem because when I start my network connection (tiscali broadband) explorer hangs too and nothing will run until it clears itself, several minutes later. When I boot Windows (XPSP2) iexplorer.exe runs at boot and tries to connect to the internet but I have no applications that call this program at startup, (except maybe McAfee and JavaSun scheduler). I have checked the registry and it seems clear (as far as I can see!) I have tried running McAfee and AdAware but they dont find anything. Have even tried a rootkit analyser but it also says nothing amiss. It is as if a program runs IE7 invisibly in the background and the explorer/system can only start properly when this has finished. Does this sound like a trojan Had the same problem before I upgraded from IE6. I have tried disabling add-ons but no improvement. One other thing is it will not play videos when called from flash web page application, otherwise they play normally. I have latest flash player installed. Does anyone else have this problem Or can anyone suggest a fix I would really appreciate any feed back / support.     - popups not working correctly in IE7 I'm having problems with Internet Explorer. For the most part I like that pop-ups are blocked but when I need them to appear, they don't fully load. I get a popup with a blank screen. I have turned every pop-up blocker I can find off to no avail. I've done system restore and it worked temporarily. I've reset every setting to default in the internet options and it still won't work. I have also un and re-installed IE7, still don't work right. Please help! I have tried everything you all have posted on here and nothing is helping mine.

My speakers are connected correctly, my device manager is configured correctly, default audio cards and devices are correct, I have already gone thru the trouble shooter and nothing helps.

I changed nothing on my computer and one day all the sounds is gone from my frequented websites like MySpace, Yahoo Messenger, and You Tube. My Windows medial player plays everything just fine and so does iTunes. That is how I know my speakers are fine.

It always appears that the sound is playing but I hear nothing even with the volume at max.

What else is there to do Some of you resolved your sound issue. What am I missing

The same is happening to me... my speakers work fine, MP plays music fine, but nothing in explorer has audio! I even tried updating my audio driver/codec. Solutions please

I am going through the same thing right now. I thought my daughter maybe did something on accident, but after troubleshooting and researching for days, I am at a loss.

I have Dell Dimension 8200 with windows XP.

I can hear WMP as well, but anything involved on the internet cannot be heard, like listening to Fox News or a CNN Thread.

The little sound icon that is normally on the bottom task bar is even gone.

Anyone get any results yet
