    - Running my program from toolbar--works in IE 6, but not IE 7 Upon further examination, I determined that the problem only occurs when the icon is moved into a folder on the toolbar. For example, I had a folder that stored a shortcut for Sort Ascending and another for Sort Descending. If I put the icons directly onto the toolbar without putting into the folder, it works without any security warnings and the parameter is passed. As soon as I move the shortcut into a folder, when I click on it the two security warnings appear and the parameter is not passed. So the issue has simply something to do with putting the icon in a folder in the IE toolbar. But the combination of IE7 & Excel2007, the excel frame shows excel2007's ribbon interface. I want to hide the ribbon interface.     - IE7 HTML IFRAME, "save as" filename displayed with UTF-8 encoded characters I hope that this is the right forum and that someone can help me. I have a "Java" application (running under Tomcat/JBOSS). From within IE7 (Internet Explorer 7) I invoke a servlet (doPost()) that in turn calls a web service (call to web service is in doPost()). The webservice returns a document using ISO-8895-1 encoding (the back end system that supplies the web-service is running ISO-8895-1 and is a thrid party application that I use). In my servlet I convert the response to UTF-8 (JBOSS/Tomcat is using UTF-8) before sending the response back to IE for display. (I am using an IFRAME to display the document). The document can be a ".doc", ".xls" or a ".pdf" file. The filename contains a non 7 bit ascii chracter (e.g. a Swedish o"). Once the file is displayed in the IFRAME the user wants to use IE'e FILE->SAVE AS option (with the cursor positioned in the document). The save as dialog (of IE7) shows the correct filename (with the Swedish o) in the case of the ".doc" document. However, with the ".xls" and ".pdf" documents the filename shown (in the "save as" dialog) is not correct; instead of a swedish o I get the encoded version ("%C3%B6") in the filename. In all instances the filename/encoding etc. are identical (it is just the file type that changes). I am setting the following http request headers myself: "Content-Disposition": filename=<filename> "Content-Type" : "application/msword" | "application/vnd.ms-excel" | "application/pdf" I have even tried a "cache problem fix" I found via a search engine: "Pragma": "public" "Cache-Control": "max-age=0" My IE7 has the latest patch: "Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (937143): MS07-045".     - How can I programmatically resize an explorer bar? Hi, The Explorer Bar height/width is stored in the registry as a value under the bands CLSID entry in the Internet Explorer\Explorer Bars key. A good example to look at is the Alexa toolbar (which is a html Explorer Band and can just as easily be implemented as an Explorer Bar (tweak Implemented Categories)) which uses a satellite BHO to resize the (toolbar) window object on document resize events to maintain a fixed height for their toolbar. I am not sure if they also write the size value to the registry but you may want to consider reseting the value of the height/width each time your bar is unloaded also, so that the next time it is loaded it is displayed at the desired width/height. There is also a maximum height/width that you can set for an Explorer Bar, which I think is 50% of the IE Window height/width. Regards.     - non-ascii url(IDN)and redirection with Location header(IE7) Currently I'm developing/maintaining click redirection web servers that send 'Location:' header back to the users at the end of the process. But the problem is that it does not work with IDN urls(those having non-ascii characters such as asian characters) ONLY ON INTERNET EXPLORER 7. I've found that IE6 simply trys to ask plug-ins or DNS servers to get the punycode(something like "xn--blahblah.com") when received a Location header with IDN, which does not make any problems afterall. but IE7 fails to redirect. It seems that IE7 can handle IDN internally but do not use punycode translation when following 'Location' header with non-ascii characters. Actually it also happens on firefox(which supports IDN internally as well), the only difference being that this time it trys to url_encode the entire address, and then fails(so it tries an address like ' http://%aa%aa%aa.com' ). Is this a bug of IE7, or am I wrongly using Location header with IDN It's becoming quite a serious problem but I cannot find any information anywhere.
