    - IE7 HP Director Problem Hi there. I read your post and tried the workaround that you mentioned but on my system nothing happened at all. It doesn't work for me. I can't even use the HP Sotware update function to check for software updates. However I did notice that if I reboot the computer and try the software update function before trying to load the HP Director application that it did work. However HP comes back saying that there are no new updates available. I then called HP's tech support and they are aware of the issue and are supposedly working on this problem. I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem where your workaround doesn't work for them either and is there anything else I can do or do I have to go out and buy a new printer which is silly because this one is still like new and worked great until now. I am using a fully updated version of XP with every available update including of course now the officially released IE7. It has Windows Defender and there is absolutely no spyware or viruses of any kind on it either as I am very diligent about those issues. Why doesn't Microsoft solve this issue by issuing a patch for IE7 to fix this issue. The PSC 2410 is a very popular printer and this has taken me by complete surprise and I love the new IE7 and I don't want to go back to IE6 like the HP rep told me to. I can't figure out for the life of me why a program like HP Director has anything to do with IE in the first place as it doesn't do any browsing Could anyone in these Microsoft forums provide me with any assistance.     - Word wrapping or scrollbars in textareas with CSS! Hello! I am working on an application which uses a lot of CSS for dynamic layouts as well as dynamic fields in which the sizes (width and heigth) are set in percentages so that screen resolution is not a display issue. In other words, the field sizes are dynamically relative to the screen resolution. I am encountering a problem though; it concerns textareas. When the textarea loads a very long unspaced string (a silly thing that shouldn't happen in the real-world but hey, it's part of the test cases...), the string never actually goes to the next line nor does a horizontal scrollbar appear. It just increases the width of the textarea to fit that one very long String into one line. What I want is the textbox to either rely on vertical scrollbars or skip lines. Under Firefox I get the vertical scrollbars which is nice. How can I force one these behaviour under IE I've type using the 'wrap' attribute and 'word-wrap' under CSS but no dice.     - CTRL+click on a link in a window of IE7 is not working properly I have the same problem with IE 7. I hold down the ctrl key, lick on a link and IE 7 opens a new browser window with a blank page. I cannot open the url from the link I clicked in a new Tab. If a Microsoft employee is monitoring this site, this is a un-common bug and I have been unable to locate a fix.     - IE7 icon Problem Hello. I made a small fix that should solve your problem. Simply copy/paste the following text to notepad and save it as ie7icon.reg (Important: *.reg). Doubleklick the reg-file and that’s it. As you can see it seems that IE7 is linked to a wrong CLSID installed by IE7. Worked for me.     - Problem with "hello world" button 1 Hi all. I'm new to IE extension development and I'm trying to get a basic "hello world" extension together. I've hit a problem and would greatly appreciate your help. I've followed the "Adding Toolbar Buttons" tutorial at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa753588.aspx The button is showing up, but when I click it nothing happens. I'm not sure what the script language is meant to be - I assumed Javascript. I've created a file called test.htm and referenced it from the Script string in my extensions registry entry. <html> <head><title>Hello world</title></head> <body> <script type="text/javascript"> alert("Hello world"); </script> </body> </html> 1 I've also tried calling the file test.js and getting rid of the html markup, which makes no difference.     - Problem in accessing site on IE7 I have an site developed in ASP 3.0 and Javascript 1.3.The site runs fine on IE6.This site depends on some built in activeX controls as TDC ..etc heavily. Recently I upgraded to IE7.Now when I start my application ion IE7,it show me " Internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.When I click on the "ok" button on the pop up message the application closes / crashes. I have confirmed that the TDC is responsible for it.IE6 has TDC.OCX version 1.3.0.3130 but IE7 has version 7.0.5730.11 .     - IE7 FTP Security Issue Kedar, I can supply you with any information you need to know. I am also experiencing the same problem and wish to have it resolved as soon as possible. Our current ftp site is set up on server2000. With windows explorer we have no problem, but with IE7 all folders on the site are exposed with full control.     - IE7 div not stretching to fill width I keep getting this and I can't find the fix to it anywhere.... please help! When a div doesn't have enough content to fill the width of the area the div doesn't fill the whole width. A gap will appear at the end of the div in IE7 browsers. I don't want to have to set fixed widths for the middle content section so that it can shrink to fit re-sizing the browser. I've tried everything I can think of. Setting the width to 100% breaks it because the left navigation pane or right pane will no longer float. It's probably something really obvious so I can't find it on blogs.     - IE7 and Windows Explorer Folder Hello, I would like to write some kind of addon or extension to IE7 that will allow an Explorer folder, for example C:\myProjects, to be opened directly inside of IE7 tabbed window; this will help my desktop from being so cluttered. Current, if I open a new "tabbed window" in IE7 and type in "C:\myProjects" in the address bar it opens an Windows Explorer folder outside of IE7. To me this makes no since since both IE7 and Windows Browser share the same underlying framework.     - registry entries for IE 64-bit toolbar hi, I have checked three GUIDs, which are generated by VS2005's GUID tool. I can install it OK on XP , Win2K and Vista 32-bit and Vista 64-bit IE32-bit, but only failed on Vista 64-bit's IE 64-bit(As you know, there are two IE on Vista 64-bit,one is for 32, the other is for 64). Also There are two registries on Vista 64-bit, One is for 32-bit applications, the other is for 64-bit applications. There is noToolbar registry entry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\, while 32-bit registry does has such key. I think that is the reason why my dll failed. So I am wondering where I can register my dll. There must be a proper registry entry, from which IE 64-bit loads when It is opened. Thanks !     - Calling ActiveX function from Javascript Hi, From what I've heard, you're supposed to be able to call an embedded activex function or set one of its properties from the javascript in an html/asp page as long as the function or property is declared as public in the code. I have an activex control embedded in an html page with the object tag: <object ID="gis" classid="clsid:C9905EA4-468A-46c0-BCF4-49A547B3A2E6"> Then I try to call a public function of the control like this: <script> function showbox() { gis.ShowMBox(); } <script> All the function does is show a messagebox. I have an html button that calls the javascript function like this: <input type=button value="SetDoc" onclick="showbox()"> When I click the button which calls the javascript function, which in turn calls the activex function, I get a page error icon in the status bar, and when I double click it here's the error message I see: Line: 12 Char: 2 Error: Object doesn't support this property or method.     - activex cab file Hi, I have an activex control that also contains a .dll to convert file formats. VB6 packages it into a cab that work fine until the program uses the dll. Gets a file not found error when accessing the dll. Works fine if I move the dll to the system32 folder. But this is internet based app. Looked at destindir it is set to 11 (system32) also set it to blank but no joy.     - Javascript validation not working in IE 7 but works in IE 6 JavaScript validation is not working in IE 7 but works just fine in IE 6. Function to validate a text box to check that the input is numbers only else, raise an alert message and return false. This function is called on the OnBlur event of the textbox on the page. In IE 7 and FF 2.x, the error message is raised when an non numeric input is entered in the text box but after clicking on the page/any other control of the page, the validation is disabled and allows the user to continue to fill the next field. However, the page works fine in IE 6.0 and does not allow the user to fill in the next control till the current text box value is corrected. Any insight in this matter would be highly appreciated. There seems to be differences between IE 5/6 and IE7 as when/if the parent.OverviewFrame.document.images['ovImage2'] is defined and it broke a lot of our mapping programs.
