I have found with IE7 that if you have multiple frames and one of the frames contains non-HTML (e.g., pdf, doc), you cannot print the frame that has the non-HTML in it. This worked in IE6. For pdf files in the frame, nothing prints. For doc files in the frame you get output indicating it cannot be printed as laid out. Hopefully Microsoft can fix this bug. I would not need to have a frame with Word in it if Microsoft supported the widows and orphans styles but I have some paragraphs that I need to keep together and use Word to print as it can handle orphans and widows.

I am experiencing the same problem: cannot print frames if a frame contains non-HTML. In this instance, the documents are Word (.doc) files on the education site Blackboard.com. The error message that actually prints says "Print Error The document in this frame annot be printed as laid out. This frame will be printed separately" except that the frame never does print separately.

This is very frustrating for our students. It worked fine in IE6. But now, it doesn't even work using the User Agent String.

Hi, I have this same issue. Are Microsoft aware of this

As a workaround I have found that if after clicking the print button, click the option tab, select "as laid out on screen", then click Print.

Thanks and heres hoping this gets sorted! If it worked in IE6 then it should work in IE7 surely - you shouldnt lose functionality!

We are experiencing this problem with our clients where we have quite a few documents that are in Rich Text Format. This has greatly inconveinced them, and we really need to find a resolution. Functionality like this defintely should not have been lost. If anyone finds a complete fix, please let me know!
