    - Security Issue???? Alright I am having a very hard time trying to figure this one out and have to have it done today. We have a webform that pops up and it has a ink blog inside of it. The form shows up but the ink blog does not. The ink blog is a dll file that is referenced. I works fine in Vista with IE7, but nothing else. XP with ie6 or 7.     - IE 7 display blank page on refresh when viewing session enabled PHP pages served from IIS 6!! Perhaps this is a more general IIS6 / Session Variable / IE7 issue. I had and reproduced the same problem when serving ASP to IE7 using IIS6. Session variables mysteriously disappearing. Removing the javascript includes immediately solved the problem. I cut and pasted the javascript into the page directly. Luckily it's only a small code change, and not a lot of javascript. On other sites this could be a major issue. How Microsoft didn't notice this in 2 years I don't know. Shameful. Session variables (rightly or wrongly) are often used to control access to pages. I wouldn't be surprised if this both closes or opens some "private areas" on websites where code that assume Sessions actually work. e.g. (page 1) Session ("access") = "false" [variable won't get passed to page 2 due to IE7 bug] ... Session ("access") = "true" [variable won't get passed to page 2 due to IE7 bug] (page 2) If Session("access") = "true" Then...     - Script debugging broken I'm having a similar problem trying to get a script debugger to attach to Internet Explorer 7. I originally just assumed that IE7 didn't support the older debuggers, but as I was browsing the Microsoft site to look for a solution, I finally got the familiar "Do you wish to debug " prompt on a Microsoft download page. Yet, on the page I'm developing, nothing I do will get a debugger to launch. I've tried multiple versions to no avail, and in-line statements have no effect.     - Creating a Search Provider with C# Programmatically for IE 7.0 Hi Kress, The default search provider is given by the GUID value that is the DefaultScope value of the key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes If the GUID does not point to an existing sub key IE will use the default searchscope read from the HKLM\....etc node. If there is no machine defaults it will create and use the Live as the default search provider. Given that scenario there are only 2 reasons why your new searchscope does not take as the default... 1 being that you are using the same GUID as the built-in Live default (Unlikely but check the GUID values under the HKLM node) The second and most probable is that an addon is blocking changes to the registry key/value for the 'DefaultScope'. Run IE7 in no-Addons mode to test if this is the case. I am not certain but I think also the Google toolbar (toolbarnotifier.exe) runs a windows service that will block registry changes even when addons have been disabled. Programatically, read the DefaultScope value after you have written it and compare it to see if was written to the registry sucessfully. If it does not match then you will know that something has blocked it and you can give your uses a message to disable any of the know registry blockers. Regards.     - IE Toolbar on Windows Vista and IE7 Hi Martin, Usually as well as the COM registration under a HKCR key, you also add a key with a value of your toolbars CLSID to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar\WebBrowser or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar But I cannot confirm that for Vista as I am using XP and Win2K. I kinda suspect that installing a toolbar without validating user access rights to the registry (ie using an installer), particuarly on a Vista platform, may cause problems when you try to write to protected keys. Also to consider is how the Addon manager detects your new toolbar. It may be that if the Addon manager does not know about your new toolbar that it will stop it from being loaded by IE. But I don't know this for sure... I think it builds a list of Addons each time IE is started by inpecting the above keys and others under Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer. There is also a limit of 16 toolbar addons that you can have installed in IE. When you install any more they will not appear in the View>Toolbars list and cannot be displayed by the showbrowserbar method. Your toolbar will not be visible in the IE toolbar until the user has choosen to show it from the View>Toolbars menu (or selected it from the toolbar context menu). Usually installers open a web page of instructions on how to display their toolbar once the installation process has finished. Regards. In many cases, all it has to do is send a form submission with proper field names and values provided; it doesn't necessarily need to read the original HTML at all. Regarding your email account, once the spammers know your email address, it'll be spammed until the end of time, even if it is inactive or deleted.     - IE7 won't accept my cookie I've actually come accross the same problem with a website. We use the same login system for all our sites, just simple cookie / db stuff and some users with IE7 report that they cant log in, and doing a javascript:alert(document.cookie) in the address bar brings up no cookies, though this only happens with "some" IE7 users, my test box with IE7 works fine. All other browsers save the cookie fine (even IE6) I know one person who contacted me with this problem could log in fine with IE6, but after they upgraded to IE7 they couldn't log in again. And one thing i know this person did on IE6 was set the cookie settings to accecpt cookies from that website.
