    - The problem of executing javascript within a.src with SHDocVw.InternetExplorerClass Hi, I utilize SHDocVw.InternetExplorerClass as an agent to retrieve content of web pages. For some pages, I need to login to get access to resource further. The problem is that the mechanism to post the authentication is through a javascript within the src attribute of <a> element, like <A href="javascript:login();">. Although I know I can get HTMLAnchorElement with InternetExplorerClass representing <A> in IE, I am not sure if I can direct trigger the javascript within <A> with the off-the-shelf API of HTMLAnchorElement. Setting auto as width for a textarea, in IE, gives the same behaviour as giving a fixed value. It will set the textarea width to a certain size and that size will remain static regardless of all the space that is available when we maximize the window.     - IE7 icon Problem Hi Lance, Surprisingly, it is still easy to delete or move favorites that are marked as read-only. The only stipulation is that you are required to answer yes to the prompt to move or delete a read-only file. I also suspect, but am not sure, that a disk defragmentation may not move the read-only files. Since they are probably too small to be fragmented, it shouldn't be a problem. With the read-only set, the browser (IE or Maxthon) cannot update the favorite, which again, is not a critical issue for the short-term anyway. So far the solution seem to be holding up well and appears transparent to the user. In FireFox and IE6 the divs behave as I want (on the same line) even whenI resize the window and make it smaller. IE7 rearranges the divs and puts the content after the left div when the window is too small.     - Protecting/Backing Up Internet Explorer History File Without elaborating very much on the subject, in my opinion you have some pretty good alternatives: - (1) you may use a blocking firewall with Internet activity logging. This way you would be able to log not only IE's Activity but all Internet activity done by your kids. Be sure to get one with some kind of "configuration's lock by password" and use a difficult one. Note that some firewalls do not log web pages but only the IP address of the connected web server. So choose one that fits your needs. -(2) You may also use a transparent proxy software with logging features. Most of them log the viewed pages. be sure to get one with some protection against log clearing. - (3) Keyboard / screen loging software. Several spyware softwares do exactly that but there are some legitimate software that are used exactly for the purposes you mentioned. - (4) Get some Internet Control software for kids. Those software come with some updatable database that prevent children from accessing forbidden sites and innapropriate material over the web and I guess that they have also activity logging features. - (5) Remember to use different windows user's accounts. At one to each kid and another for your. Define their accounts as "regular user". So you'll be able to look at their Internet history files and also will prevent them from installing unwanted software. There are hundreds of other solutions. It depends how detailed is the information you want and the size of your pocket. The problem only occurs when javascript files are included in the HEAD section of the web page. Move them to the BODY (aka everything you have been taught and believe in) and everything works fine.
