    - IE7, OE6 Printing problems with headers I too have the same problem... Using OE6 and email headers don't print now after I installed IE7. I have tried every trick in the book that I know, and several things I've found in various forums and by doing Google searches, nothing works. I have an HP PSC2100 printer, but also have Adobe Acrobat7 and don't get the header when printing to the "Adobe PDF" printer to create a PDF file either. I have XP-Pro with ALL the latest patches & updates, am running Avast 4.7 Anti-virus, and AVG 7.5 AntiSpyware (formerly ewido)... the problem only came about after installing IE7. Picture an application that requests information from the web and it returns several matches from which you can select one or more records. The information that you select is then used to update, add, remove, or insert records in the DB, configure client application options, select skins or whatever else. Would you use: WinForms App with embedded IE object retrieving pages from web server. Some UI elements are WinForms controls (tab groups, buttons, application options). Host app listens to events fired by IE object, i.e.: User triggers an event by clicking on a form button that the host app is listening for, web page refreshes all data and host app accesses page data through DOM or other method, or (not liking this option at all, pretty stoneaged i think) While user makes selections and updates, host app queries db through WebServices for changes in state--or any other scenario--changes made are reflected when application determines when user makes changes to DB Standalone IE in kiosk mode displaying ASP.NET web application (this of course would make the client portable and cross-platform, big plus, right ) A better design Thanks for any help you can give me! Basically, when IE sees your MIME type, it will call your handler with what amounts to a "here, go read this thing and give me the bits" request.     - IE 7 display blank page on refresh when viewing session enabled PHP pages served from IIS 6!! Perhaps this is a more general IIS6 / Session Variable / IE7 issue. I had and reproduced the same problem when serving ASP to IE7 using IIS6. Session variables mysteriously disappearing. Removing the javascript includes immediately solved the problem. I cut and pasted the javascript into the page directly. Luckily it's only a small code change, and not a lot of javascript. On other sites this could be a major issue. How Microsoft didn't notice this in 2 years I don't know. Shameful. Session variables (rightly or wrongly) are often used to control access to pages. I wouldn't be surprised if this both closes or opens some "private areas" on websites where code that assume Sessions actually work. e.g. (page 1) Session ("access") = "false" [variable won't get passed to page 2 due to IE7 bug] ... Session ("access") = "true" [variable won't get passed to page 2 due to IE7 bug] (page 2) If Session("access") = "true" Then... [test incorrectly assumes Session variable has been set to either "true" or "false"] Thanks for working this out estrip! Have you made any navigations yet when this code is called The reason being that upon creating a browser object, the document is empty until the first navigation, therefore possibly returning NULL. Set the background-image of the <div> element that bounds the menu control to your image. I don't think this will work for your child menus, just the top level menu.     - Using IWebBrowser2 to display RSS channel file Hi, I am using an IWebBrowser2 in an MFC application for a built in web browser. I have most everything going just fine. My last hurdle has stumped me. I want to display RSS xml files like IE7 - a list of RSS items to click on etc. IWebBrowser2 will display the RSS channel xml file like a normal xml file in IE, but I want to render the xml into HTML and load the DOM with it. I cannot work out how to get the raw XML file after it is downloaded but before it is loaded into DOM. I've looked at the usual handlers - OnDocumentComplete, OnDownloadComplete etc - but the DOM is already loaded with IE default XML view HTML. I am probable either missing something obvious or going about this the wrong way totally.     - IE7 and Right Click Menu I have some what of a clue as to what could cause this issue but don't have a solution. This issue could be because of the different zones/contexts used during the right click operation and the eventual launching of the page using Navigate method. Right click menu launches a local file pointed to by a registry key, which gets intercepted by my explorer bar and the explorer bar does the m_spBrowser->Navigate to launch a different page inside the explorer bar.     - dropdown overlaps menu I'm betting you are trying to make this work in IE6. There was a huge bug in IE, before IE7, that Select Lists maintained an INFINITE z-order, because they were rendered as window elements (go figure) So, what to do. 1.) If you can, deprecate your support for IE6. The browser is very old and support is waining 2.) If you must support IE6, you'll need to do one of the following. 2a.) UGLY: when you show your menu, hide the select lists (set display = 'none') 2b.) AWKWARD: design your site so that the menu can never overlap a select list 2c.) PAINFUL: design your own GUI version of a select list to replace the browser version 2d.) BEST (YET STILL PAINFUL): when you display your menu, just before you display it, render an IFRAME element underneath it with the exact same dimensions... and likewise destroy it, when you hide the menu. Option #1 is obviously the ultimate, and based on the current market data, this should be possible for most "Internet" based sites by late Q1 2008. (and for any nay-sayers... ask yourself... seriously... Mybutton.htm you can embed that page as a HTML resource in a dll or exe and then in the registry launch the button script using the res:// protocol. The IE Addon manager should pick up the version resources of the dll or exe file and display them in its listing. Don't forget to restart IE after installing your button.     - Prompting Users When Using window.close() In IE7 Use .HTA's. If you're creating true trusted intranet appplications then you should use HTA anyway as they will allow you to access the file system object, command line arguments, etc. You really dont need any sort of example on how to use .HTAs, they're really nothing more than regular web pages with decreased security restrictions. Simply rename your .html file to have a .hta extension (ie test.html -> test.hta). The only tag that is exclusive to an HTA is the <HTA> tag. This is a meta tag that provides information about the HTA and lets you customize the app's border, icon, etc. An example follows: <HTA:APPLICATION id="myHta" icon="C:\webpage\myIcon.ico" /> You can find the reference w/ all of the attributes and properties for the HTA object in MSDN, just run a search for it. I have being trying to do this, and have gotten quite far but its not quite finished. I have being writing a blog entry about it (still in draft) but you can take a peak at it if you think it would help... might even be able to help me finish it!
