    - Please help !!! - Javascript OnChange events are not fired Hi All, have one strange problem. Scenario: 1) Server with MS CRM 3.0 and some custom client-side scripts applied to CRM elements (OnChange, OnLoad handl;ers etc.) 2) PC A with IE7 installed 3) PC B with IE6 installed 4) PC C with IE7 installed Problem is, that some (not all!) JavaScript events are just not fired on PC A and PC B. At the same time, same code form same server are running perfectly well on PC C! OnLoad events are working everywhere. OnChange - almost never on PC A and PC B. I tried to make every change I could think of in IE security settings - it didn't help. During making chaotic changes to IE settings on PC A I managed to make events fire normally - but when I closed IE window and re-opened it - every problem returned back. Event handler code is written on javascript and it does not matter whats inside - even alert("test"); is not working. Does anybody have any idea, what can prevent IE6-7 to stop firing OnChange events I completely lost.. Best regards, Alexander G.     - Help w/ hiding explorer bars with Jscript Hi, I'm trying to hide the explorer bars, I occasionally see them when a page is launched in kiosk mode. I call the script first thing when the page is loading. When I call the script function, I still see the explorer bars.     - IE 7 Uninstall/Install Issues Hello hello, I did take the time to read it all. I had the same probs so.. I kept on trying and got the IE 7 off my computer. With the IE7 also came two popups that I can't get off. It's a drivecleaner thing. Try it and buy it later !!!!! ANd somthing called WinProAnti 'something-something'2006. I completly reinstalled everything. Started from scratch. Let windowsdefender run and My pc help told me about Hitman Pro. Everything clean both programms told me. But the WInpro thing and drivercleaner keep popping up. I did tell my pc not to open popup.But this ones just open into a new window. It came with the IE7 but only opens on certain sites. Eventho.. i have the IE7 on it agian, came with the upgrade and it works sort of ok now. I liked working with it. But if the probs keep on coming i Have to find another solution. Evertything else that I have on my Pc from microsoft is ok.So i really hope i can fix it all. Thx to everyone that takes the time to read the forum and try to help others. Keep up the good work.     - BeforeNavigate2 gets bad parameter values Hi I'm new to BHO development and to the ATL sink concept. I'm currently developing BHO on top of IE7 using VS 2005. Hi Team When you open www.camsstewards.com.au with IE7 the login button etc gets covered up with other parts of the page. and you get a "Run Time Error".     - Custom Image Decode Filters for GIF and JPEG? (Possibly the wrong place to ask this sort of question, but...) We have a need to provide custom image decode filters for the standard image types. For most of them, this is easy enough using standard IE facilities to register the filters against the appropriate MIME types. Unfortunately (for our purposes), image/gif, image/jpeg, and image/pjpeg are special cased by IE, so that even if an image decode filter is registered for one of them, it is ignored, and the build in renderer is used. (It would be nice if IE checked for an explicitly registered decoder, and use the built-in one only if a custom one wasn't registered, but that's not the case...) We currently fake this out by hooking the FindMimeFromData() function to return custom image MIME types for these 3, and then registering our filters against these custom MIME types. This works OK for displaying these image types. Unfortunately, FindMimeFromData() is apparently also used by IE to determine the Content-type to return in the file data part of the multipart/form-data returned for an INPUT Type=file FORM, meaning that attempts to upload GIF or JPEG files will get our "funny" MIME types attached to them, which isn't OK. As far as I can tell, there doesn't appear to be enough info passed to FindMimeFromData() to allow our hook routine to determine why it is being called, so it can't return the "real" MIME types in the outbound case, and the "fake" MIME types in the inbound case. I was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for another way to solve this problem. I am not at all knowledgeable about IE extensions, but I have read some things implying that it may be possible to insert a filtering add-on that could find (and rewrite) the MIME types in the incoming stream. However, I haven't found any details or documentation that describes how to do something of this sort. A solution that isn't specific to a particular rev of IE would be preferred, but an IE7 only solution would be acceptable.     - Calling .Net executable from a browser Was wondering if someone can help me with this. I wrote a console application in .Net that reads a Serial port, was wondering if there is a way to call this application from a client script so I can get this Serial Port value into my Web Page, and then submit to server. I tried this using VBScript: Cmd = "C:\MyExecutable.exe" set objShell = CreateObject(Cmd) GOT A ACTIVEX COMPONENT CAN'T CREATE OBJECT Tried: Cmd = "C:\MyExecutable.exe" set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application") objShell.ShellExecute Cmd, "", "", "open", 1 GOT A PERMISSION DENIED ERROR.     - Problem Getting C# BHO To Work/Deploy I have a similar problem. I developed an BHO, using c#, and I have big deploing problems. In my case happened like this (I'm testing my work in some virtual machines - usind Virtual PC): 1. Some browsers doesn;t run my BHO at all. With no explanation. 2. Some browsers run partial my BHO. This means I get in SetSite and GetSite functions, I execute from there all the code, but nothing executes from the functions that handle the events browser_DocumentComplete and browser_BeforeNavigate. I don;t get any error (I have a lot of blocks try/catch), it just doesn't execute the code from that functiions. 3. BHO work perfect. This is a reare situation, but I saw sometimes my BHO working after deployment.     - Displaying yellow information bar on the .chm help file.(this only in IE7, Not in IE6) Hi, We have help.chm file. help.chm file calling from the Java script file for displaying the help. The Help.chm file contains index on leftside and contents on rightside. Contents designed with html tags. When user clicking on the help icon, help file displayed on the seperate window. But it displays yellow error information bar on the top-right corner of help window(Content window) also.     - WebBrowser Control: Old-timey Button Style The webbrowser control insists on drawing all the widgets/form elements/buttons in with an legacy-style hard beveled look. When I use an input tag with type="button" in the webbrowser control it looks like a system button on windows 95. However when I view that same page in IE6 or 7 it has a nice soft rounded look.     - IE7 Changes Session Numbers I'm supporting an application in my office that runs in a web browser and connects to a secure area of our website. The users locate customers in browser instance 1 and then click a link to log into the customer account in browser instance 2. The problem occurs when the user logs out of customer account in browser 2 and returns to browser 1 to locate the next customer. The session number has changed and the security cookies have disappeared forcing the user to log into the application again in browser 1. The user environment is Internet Explorer 7 running on Windows XP Professional. The application is written using ASP and VB Script. I've tried different methods of starting browser 2 including a form post, anchor tag and javascript window.open(). They all exhibit the same behavior. The interesting thing is that the application works fine in FireFox. Any ideas on how to fix this issue will be grealty appreciated. The executable modifies the registry value: My.Computer.Registry.SetValue ("HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings", "GlobalUserOffline", 1) This works if I restart IE or open a second instance of IE. It doesn't work in the currently opened IE instance.     - IE7 cookie problem This sounds like a big problem. Why hasn't Microsoft come up with a patch yet I can understand if this was an issue with an off brand computer, but my computer is a 4 month old Dell Demension. Would I be better off reloading with an older version of IE Right now I have to use FireFox for half of the websites I go to for my company work -it's a true pain to have two web browsers to switch between. Especially when I've gone through 3 webpages to upload information to the company website (which takes 2 minutes) and at the end it says my session has expired which is set for 20 minutes. Then I have to load FoxFire and redo my work. You're going to lose me as an IE user if there isn't a patch soon!     - get_Document returns NULL in IE7 I think the problem can be narrowed down to the CreateControl section and surrounding code then, considering that in the same cases that the code doesn't work, CreateControl returns a failure code. So let's start there. Are you properly checking that m_hwnd is non-NULL and valid before the CAxWindow constructor I find it very interesting that the problem only occurs when IE starts with your explorer bar hidden, then you show it yourself. That may somehow be linked to the HWND issue. The users want to be able to type in more then 1 character to allow the drop down to sort by more then just the first field.     - Issue with Internet Explorer 7 - Security Prompt I have programmed an application that uses WMI Scripting to check the Serial Number of the Hard Disk Drive. The user connects to the Web Server and then the Web application should check and show the Serial Number. However, this works in Internet Explorer 6 (the browser asks the user if he/she allows to run ActiveX). In Internet Explorer 7 a Prompt appears and disappears and the user cannot tell the browser if he/she allows or not ActiveX execution (this is if the IE is configured to ask the user, because if it's configured to allow execution, the application works, but there is a security issue and the company will not alllow this).     - IE7 Start up problem Get 'Spysites' from Camtech2000 and SpywareBlaster They're 'Preventative' measures that load restricted sites and 'Sites' in cookie control area of IE6 and IE7. Adaware and Spybot usually come up clean if IE6 controls are set correctly. I usually find 1 or no items every week. How can a "cookie manager" beat IE6's controls If you use iespyad, spysites, and SpywareBlaster, they load almost 7K of restricted cookies into the block list. I have 1st. and 3rd. party cookies blocked 24/7, always allow session cookies checked,( session cookie has to be checked to work with edit features), and under edit button,( "sites" with SP2) I only have 7 ( I think) sites on the allow list which will act like a firewall "pass list". If I don't delete cookies for a year, and look in cookie folder, I never find more than the 7, and that's only if I visit all 7 sites during the year. Set Tools, Internet Options, Privacy, Advanced, Block 1st. and 3rd. Party cookies; Check "Always allow session cookies", hit OK. THEN Click EDIT,(or SITES) in SP2, Type in or paste paypal.com for instance, Click allow. Check OK as you close each menu. After a year of surfing, that's the only cookie to be found in that folder. YOU WILL KNOW WHEN A SITE YOU NEED WON'T WORK AND CAN ADD THAT SITE AT THAT TIME IF IT'S NECESSARY. One Caveat; Excite sets a tracking cookie, and after every update of SpyWareBlaster, I have to locate it at bottom of list, and right click, select Ignore list and addd it to the ignore list, or uncheck excite, pick Remove Protection. PS: Now clear all cookies for a fresh start. Clear temp files regularly. SpywareBlaster preloads your "White List" with thousands of Bad sites on the Block List in Internet Explorer. A sidebar: Get Camtech2000's free version of Spysites. It not only loads restricted sites into Internet Explorers " Restricted Zone , but it tells you what each site puts on your computer. Read their " worst offender" list. Some "cookies" have java script viruses. Get updates through it's help menu. Be sure to download CCLeaner from http://www.ccleaner.com/ and run it every day!     - Problem crashing IE with IE extension and Broker Process Hello, I have a pre-vista Internet Explorer toolbar which communicated via COM to another process to assist my users with web browsing. Both the toolbar and the com server are written in VB6. Under Vista, with protected mode, I thought that I could make my COM server a broker process and everything would be fine. I added the registry keys alluded to in Understanding and Working in Protected Mode Internet Explorer . Now, my toolbar will start the out of process com server, but Internet Explorer crashes. How do I fix this If I turn protected mode off, everything works great. Please help!     - Suggestion: drag page when moving mouse while holding down mouse button Suggestion: drag page when moving mouse while holding down mouse button Moving the mouse while holding the button down currently has no assigned purpose in IE7. In the Acrobat PDF viewer (and other viewers such as Google Earth, Virtual Earth, etc) this drags the "page" as the mouse moves. IE should do the same. Besides compatibility with other viewers, this allows for less mouse movement (i.e. looking for the elivator in the scroll bar) to move up/down as you read text (or taking your hand off the mouse to find the page-up/down buttons.) Not everyone has a "wheel mouse". I'm using a Versapoint RF wireless keyboard to type this on a full screen IE7 showing on a large screen HDTV driven by Vista. The "rocker" mouse built into this keyboard is slow at going over to the scroll bar (and it is not all that easy to see on the TV)... I can increase the text size to make it easy to read/type text, but the scroll bar does not increase in size correspondingly).     - IE7 problems with window.showModalDialog Hi All, I had this same problem for the past 2 days. And was feeling very down for not solving the problem. And today I came to office and simply searched for "window.showModalDialog" and found some articles on the same issue. The team is using AJAX to send and receive configuration information to determine the customized content that appears within various elements on the page. Currently, the flow is rather simple. A user will make a request, the browser will make an AJAX call to the server, and the server will return HTML markup that describes the appearance/behavior of the desired element within the page. Until recently, this has been working without issue, until it came time to test this with IE7. All our markup has been rendering as expected, except for one particular request which returns a small amount of JavaScript in a <SCRIPT> tag to handle some of the wonkier behavior.  Whenever this request was made, the <DIV> where the markup should be injected is a blank, whereas every other request would render properly. After closer inspection, it appears that IE7 is stripping out everything within the <SCRIPT> tags, including the tags themselves, before injecting the markup.  Consider the following: var responseText = " <p>Begin Script</p> <script type='text/javascript'> // random JavaScript code </script> <p>End Script</p> "; displayArea.innerHTML = responseText; alert(innerHTML); In Mozilla Firefox, as intended, the page will draw an alert box containing indentical contents to the response text, including the <SCRIPT> information. In IE7, the alert box displays the following: <p>Begin Script</p> <p>End Script</p> Naturally, the <SCRIPT> content is missing. It's not difficult to figure out why IE7 would be stripping the information out, considering the potential security threats of passing unwanted JavaScript to the browser. At the same time, though, other browsers do support this without incident, and I would like to know if there's another reason for this behavior besides what we've already theorized. With that in mind, is there any way of circumventing the problem Another team member has suggested using regular expressions to pass all the <SCRIPT> snippets to an eval() function to be executed "the hard way" though this seems somewhat inelegant. I was curious as to whether or not anyone had any additional suggestions. The JavaScript code being passed, for those that are curious, is an implementation of the EXT-JS visual library and is displaying a tree structure. Thank you very much for your assistance. I installed developer toolbar 1.00.2188.0 but it doesn't show up when I right click to view and use it. I have restarted IE 7 but no sign of the toolbar... I have also installed Win live toolbar without any problems. What's wrong
