Hi!

Is it possible to do that

I want to place a link in a web page that allows the user to start his office outlook..

the only solution I know is this one:

Code Snippet
var ws = new ActiveXObject("WScript.Shell");
ws.run("outlook");

but the default security settings in IE7 don't allow to execute it.. ..is there an alternative way

thanks,

Here it is an alternative solution, but still the user is requested to change his security settings in IE7 (to allow the execution of scripts with unsafe ActiveX Objects):

(in vbscript this time)

Code Snippet
Set myOlApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")

Set myNameSpace = myOlApp.GetNameSpace("MAPI")
Set myFolder= myNameSpace.GetDefaultFolder(6)
myFolder.Display

I'm starting to think there isn't a safer solution..

Any ideas

Ok, finally I decided to write a custom ActiveX control, so, after signing it, the users will download it and will not be required to change their ie7 security settings..
