Seeing as it was my travails that prompted this entire discussion and Tim's subsequent blog posting, I ought to come in with my subsequent observations. As far as I can tell, Eugene, what I've done is more or less what you have done, albeit in MFC . My implementation of my change sink is a simple one without any macros. As far as I can tell it ought to work: this kind of implementation works fine for my IHTMLEditDesigner, so why not this simple interface I suspect it's a threading issue. I don't think that MFC uses a STA model, but IE expects everything to be STA so it's not marshalling the pointers at its end. But,. if that's the case, why doesn't IHTMLEditDesigner fail Clyde PS: code below.     - QuickTime plug in problem I have had video on web pages, using the usual object/embed tags to play QuickTime video and they were working just fine. Suddenly (I believe after switching to IE 7), I'm getting plug-in errors. When I run the page from my c: drive, I'm asked to allow blocked content and then it plays fine. But when I point my browser to the website, I don't get a prompt and I get an error message. Can anyone explain why this might be and how to correct it Many thanks.     - Can't get Explorer Bar to work in C# Hi, I have been unable to figure this out. I found a few online articles about writing Explorer bars and bands, but for some reason I can only ever get the band object to display. I don't even see a listing under View->Explorer Bars to enable it, only under Toolbars. I did check the registry entries, they look good. My code is essentially the same as posted at this article: http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/dotnetbandobjects.asp On that page it shows a screenshot with the control displayed twice on the screen. Once as a band, and then as a Horizontal Explorer Bar. I have never been able to see my system load an Explorer Bar written in C#. That's what I really want to do. I'm running VS 2005, so I manually put in the changes required for that. I'm running IE 7, it's possible it may work as an Explorer Bar in an older version, I don't know.     - IE7 Bug w/CSS Rounded Corners Hello Here's a quick sample page illustrating the problem: http://jeffbowman.com/boxtest/ The latest versions of Firefox, Netscape and Opera all display both boxes just fine, but you can see what's happening in IE7. When I enclose the box in a form, it goes south. Any ideas how I can hack the CSS to get it to work in IE FWIW, I chose this particular rounded corners technique because it's straightforward and compact--I suppose can change, but I'd rather fix this one if I can.     - IE Forms / Caret Position Bug?? I'm using IE 7, and working with an ASP.NET page. If I click on a form field (textbox or textarea on this page) at the same time that one of my regular expression validators fires (making the page move down a bit), my text caret appears in a non-editable, standard HTML section of the page. I can then type away, or use backspace to remove static HTML that was there. If I press the enter key, the text caret moves to the field I initially tried to click on.     - Managed C++ Windows Form not showing up in IE Hi, I am trying to get a managed C++ Windows Form to come up in IE. This works fine when I build a C# Windows Form Control Library (with the regular htm syntax ID=dll name.namespace.class etc) However when I try the same experiment with Managed C++ it does not show up in IE. i.e. If I create a DLL that is a managed C++ Windows Control Form Library and put it in the Virtual directory and then reference it in my web page it does not show up. The exact same thing works with C#. I thought maybe it's because the IE would need the CRT. I made sure the client machine has the CRT and its path variable is set accordingly. But that does not work either. Finally, I wanted to get your opinion on whether this is a wise thing to try. There are not many artciles about managed C++ windows forms in IE (actually none that I could find). Ideally I would like to put the CRT dll's in my virtual directory and then expect them to be deployed together with the winform dll. But is this really possible Someone mentioned this might not be possible as the manifest that contains the location for the CRT is not downloaded. Anyway to summarize: 1. Is it possible to get a managed C++ WinForm to show up in IE If so any ideas on any potential gottchas All I have is a basic button in my win form, and that is not working... 2.     - ActiveX Modal Dialogs do work in IE7 Here's the next problem other people might face. We have over 20 VB projects in our product, which means OCX's utilizing other OCX's and DLL's, etc. There are some pretty bad problems surrounding this as well. I noticed in other threads people are experiencing a problem with modal dialogs going behind the IE window in both IE6 and IE7. This can occur if you have more than one project. 1. Create Project1 (OCX), invisible at run time, and have a public method show a Form using .Show (vbModal, Me) . Compile this project. 2. Create Project2 (OCX), reference Project1, and have a button call the public method described in step 1. Compile this project. 3. Start an IE window hosting the Project2 OCX, and press the button (which should show your form). 4. There are many ways to hide the modal dialog. The easiest I've found is to click twice on the IE window in the taskbar. This will hide the window behind IE. The only way to get back to your modal window is to Alt+Tab. The solution we've found is to specify .Show(vbModal) without the Me designation. This works in both IE6 and IE7.     - Typing issue IE7 with Toolbars Hello I have a laptop and a desktop in which both have IE7 on them. IE7 on my laptop is free of any toolbars. I have norton installed on my desktop along with the toolbar it decided to install(guess i didnt do the uncheck option). On my desktop when Im on my site I have to bang on the keys numerous times to type data into the forms. Other users experience this to. These other users also have IE7 toolbars installed. Is there any documentation as what code we can add in to eliminate this user annoyance I am the founder and designer of the site in which I hired a programmer to do the back end.     - Internet Explorer/websites/this is disturbing... I don't know if this is the right forum...if not, and someone could refer me somewhere else, I'd appreciate it. I was on a website that was supposed to have a message board about the retro music videos that are posted on the site (the links to which all seem to be broken in the first place, so I didn't even stream any of the videos). I hadn't been to this site for months (though I guess there was one video link I had tried earlier in the day), and had never posted to the message board before or had any public profile of any sort. In fact, I don't have public profiles posted anywhere. Anyway, the link to the message board either wasn't what it claimed to be, or it had been highjacked...in any case, the link brought up XXX content. Much to my alarm, the page said something to the effect of "Find friends in your area", and specified the city where I live. I find this supremely disturbing, because I know I'd never supplied any profile information to this site...or any site for that matter, it's just not something that I ever do--because, I thought I was protecting myself from anyone that I didn't want having information about me getting it. Apparently they can anyway. I do occasionally make purchases online, that's the only time I can think of that I ever supply my address. But it's by and large only companies like Ebay and Amazon, or textbook dealers...and I never put information into a site that doesn't bring up the secure server icon in internet explorer. I ran every spyware and virus scan I have after the incident, and cleared everything in my history/TIFs/cookies, but I don't know if that addresses the problem, since I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm just really freaked out by this. How the hell did this website get information on where I live And more importantly, is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening in the future Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. I work for a large multi-national corporation with a standardised desktop based on IE...so switching browers with native SVG support is not an option for us. I need to understand how I can continue to develop SVG based web applications, and support our current ones. On the other hand, I also have to mitigate against potential issues once our current viewer, Abobe SVG Viewer, goes out of support in 1-Jan-2008. So what am I to do The Renesis plugin alternative does not appear to be a viable alternative for us. Is it time for me to abandon SVG due to 1) a lack of support from Microsoft for this format (plus no message of intented future support) and 2) virtually no 3rd party plugins for IE to render SVG.     - window.showModalDialog() controls are misplaced with IE 7 I've developed a number of modal dialogs with IE 6. The controls in them are positioned with style="position:absolute". Their placement is fine with IE 6 but with IE 7 the controls are positioned so far to the left that they are off the screen. I have an asp Panel control positioned at left:0px and all I can see of it is a piece of the right scroll bar against the left border of the modal dialog. If I position it at left:200px, I can begin to see all of it. When this is run under IE 6 the table is positioned properly. I've reread the documentation on window.showModalDialog() and I can't find anything that describes this behavior. It makes no difference if the dialog is centered or not. Is this a bug in IE 7 or is there something I'm not doing properly. Everything seems to work fine with window.open(). -Dan.     - Please help !!! - Javascript OnChange events are not fired Hi All, have one strange problem. Scenario: 1) Server with MS CRM 3.0 and some custom client-side scripts applied to CRM elements (OnChange, OnLoad handl;ers etc.) 2) PC A with IE7 installed 3) PC B with IE6 installed 4) PC C with IE7 installed Problem is, that some (not all!) JavaScript events are just not fired on PC A and PC B. At the same time, same code form same server are running perfectly well on PC C! OnLoad events are working everywhere. OnChange - almost never on PC A and PC B. I tried to make every change I could think of in IE security settings - it didn't help. During making chaotic changes to IE settings on PC A I managed to make events fire normally - but when I closed IE window and re-opened it - every problem returned back. Event handler code is written on javascript and it does not matter whats inside - even alert("test"); is not working.     - IE 7 Uninstall/Install Issues Hello hello, I did take the time to read it all. I had the same probs so.. I kept on trying and got the IE 7 off my computer. With the IE7 also came two popups that I can't get off. It's a drivecleaner thing. Try it and buy it later !!!!! ANd somthing called WinProAnti 'something-something'2006. I completly reinstalled everything. Started from scratch. Let windowsdefender run and My pc help told me about Hitman Pro. Everything clean both programms told me. But the WInpro thing and drivercleaner keep popping up. I did tell my pc not to open popup.But this ones just open into a new window. It came with the IE7 but only opens on certain sites. Eventho.. i have the IE7 on it agian, came with the upgrade and it works sort of ok now. I liked working with it. But if the probs keep on coming i Have to find another solution. Dear gurus,

There's one website that, when I open it using my laptop at home, it loads up until the last item then hangs on there. After a few seconds, it shows the error box with 'Send the report' and 'Do not send' options. I clicked the detail and get the following error signature info.

After I clicked either Send or Do not send report button, the browser closes. This happens all the time with this website. I have tried reinstall IE or repairing browser, no use.

I can get on the site with no problem at all from the desktop in my office.
