Found on another forum, there is a workaround until HP issues a fix:
Click (or double-click) on the Director Icon like you normally do to run it... the program is starting, but hiding.
After a second or two, hit <ALT><Space> on the keyboard. That will "pop-up" a dialog box... click "Minimize" (may have to click it twice). You will then see the Director icon appear in the taskbar. Click the taskbar Director button and the program will then come up and work normally.
Dear jadopp
Your 11/04/06 506PM post was most helpful. I had the same issue until now. Thanks for making this post of yours available. IT WORKED.
Thanks.
Hi there. I read your post and tried the workaround that you mentioned but on my system nothing happened at all. It doesn't work for me. I can't even use the HP Sotware update function to check for software updates. However I did notice that if I reboot the computer and try the software update function before trying to load the HP Director application that it did work. However HP comes back saying that there are no new updates available. I then called HP's tech support and they are aware of the issue and are supposedly working on this problem. I was wondering if anyone else has this same problem where your workaround doesn't work for them either and is there anything else I can do or do I have to go out and buy a new printer which is silly because this one is still like new and worked great until now. I am using a fully updated version of XP with every available update including of course now the officially released IE7. It has Windows Defender and there is absolutely no spyware or viruses of any kind on it either as I am very diligent about those issues. Why doesn't Microsoft solve this issue by issuing a patch for IE7 to fix this issue. The PSC 2410 is a very popular printer and this has taken me by complete surprise and I love the new IE7 and I don't want to go back to IE6 like the HP rep told me to. I can't figure out for the life of me why a program like HP Director has anything to do with IE in the first place as it doesn't do any browsing Could anyone in these Microsoft forums provide me with any assistance. I will check back on a regular basis to see any replies. Thanks in advance. CHEERS!!
I had this problem and HP sent me this link to download a temporary fix until they release a patch

http://www.geocities.com/contacthptech/hp1.js I tried it and it works,It is a script file, just save it to your desktop, an it will give you access to the Hp director. It might ask you to put in your instalation HP Cd
Best of luck
I tried this workaround and while it did indeed bring up HP Director. However, when I clicked on "Scan Document," I got the following error message:
"An error occurred communicating with the scanning device. Please ensure that the scanning device is connected properly and try again."
So, I'm back to square one. Ugh!
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Debra
Try this temporary cure given to me by HP ,Until they release a patch, It worked for me, just pay attention to the instructions it gives you>> http://www.geocities.com/contacthptech/hp1.js It will probably ask for your HP instalation CD
All the best
Re Jadopp's cure on post 1
Tried this as well, It worked after a couple of goes
I tried the Alt-Spacebar solution, but it didn't work despite several attempts. Uninstalling IE 7 did work.
I don't understand why this is HP's problem. If a Microsoft product screws things up, shouldn't
Microsoft fix it I won't be trying IE 7 again until I hear it is bug-free.
The problem is that MS is pushing IE 7.0 out now via the auto-update feature and that means that unless you do a custom install, and UNSELECT to install it, you are going to have it installed. And if you DO block the download (like myself) youˇŻll get an annoying message each time you check for updates telling you that you need to download IE 7.0. BLAH BLAH BLAH!
I am hoping by posting this matter in several forums that a solution might be created or at the very least MOTIVATE HP and MS to SOLVE the matter. (But then IˇŻm a dreamer)

Hi Clint S
Man your not a dreamer, Just Pig Sick of it like the rest of us

Possible work around to get HP scanner to work in PSC 1315xi all-in-one:
When you click on the shortcut icon the scanner will open.
BTW, neither of the previous workarounds solved the problem for me, so seems every machine has it's own personality, uh Good luck!
