I need to find detailed uninstallation instructions for WDS 3.01.

I would like to revert back to an older version.

Its not listed under updates under Add Remove Programs.

There is no uninstall directory under Windows\$kb...

The easiest way would be stopping the service from command line "net stop wsearch" and exit WDS by right-clicking the spyglass icon in system tray. Then, you will need to delete everything under %ProgramFiles%\Windows Desktop Search and open up regedit to delete entries with "Desktop Search" in it. For best result, install WDS 3.x again after those steps and then use either uninstall directory or use the add/remove program to make sure everything is cleaned up.

After following the clean up instructions, I installed WDS 3.01 again.

The re-installation created an entry under Add / Remove programs for Windows Desktop Search 3.01.

The re-installation created an uninstallation directory under %systemroot%\$NtUninstallKB917013$.

As a side effect... the search application appears to now be "working"... almost.

Results are returned in the search result area.

Outlook (2003) is missing from the possible search areas.

EFS documents are not indexed. (But it is my understanding that this is not supported in WDS 3.01).

After re-boot of PC, Outlook 2003 still missing from availale search areas.

After launch of Microsoft Outlook 2003, it now appears in available search areas and the installation seems to be farily complete.

Thanks.

Outlook only appears after an install of WDS and opening it. This is expected.
