Dolly K.

Hello,

Is there any way I can use a Web Service call instead of a database call (via DB connection string) as a Commerce Server Profiles Data Source

Thanks,

Dolly K.

Some of the system in previous version of the product could do that an example would be the Product Catalog. These methods are obselete, but you can still create a context for it.

DebugContext dbCtx = new ConsoleDebugContext(DebugMode.Debug);

// Create a Catalog Context from a connection string.
CatalogContext catalogContext = CatalogContext.CreateFromConnectionString(dbConStr, dbCtx);

Thanks for your response Max. I'm not sure you got my question or I am misunderstanding your answer. I am trying to use a web service as a Data Source in the Commerce Server Manager. I do not want to use a DB connection string since the interface I have for getting profile data is actually a web service. The two choices available for profile data sources right now are LDAPv3 Compliant Source and OLEDB-ANSI Provider. How can I make these work for data provided via a web service

Thanks for your assistance,

Dolly K.

I think I am still confused . You want to use a Web Service as the provider under the Commerce Server Manager for profiles If so this is not possiable nor supported.
