Hi,

I have an Error and I cannot find the answer why. I have looked for that error in msdn but there is not answer, maybe sb know what it is mean There are 3 errors in the same time

First Error:

The plug-in in <Search.TripoliIndexer> cannot be initialized.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

Details: The content index data on disk is for the wrong version. (0xc0041821)

Next:

The gatherer object cannot be initialized.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

Details: The content index cannot be read. (0xc0041800)

and finallyt:

The application cannot be initialized.

Context: Windows Application

Details: The content index cannot be read. (0xc0041800)

What is Search.TripoliIndexer

After that WDS is deleting the index files and all index information from the registry.

I have backup of my Index files and when I try to use the backup sometimes the WDS says nothing and delete the index!! and sometimes it logs those errors and then delete the Index!

I don't understand what is a problem with that version

I'm soure that the index files are in correct version because are from that PC (Win2003 Server & WDS3.01) so what that version mean

If it means that is sth wrong with the Index data (I have check HDD with chkdsk etc. - is OK) does sb know from where can I download (or just the name ) a program to repair the WDS Index I tryed to find it on the msdn and WDS page but it isn't there and it is not included in standard intallation.

I can't reindex data (index has 27GB and reindexing takes over 100 hours) and it could happend again.

The TripoliIndexer is the component that adds the document terms to the full-text index. There is no current mechanism to backup the index and we will detect that fact that the index is not in sync with the current checkpoint information that we track in the registry. Backing up the index is something that we would like address better in a future version of WDS.

But it is possible to do the backup:

1.Stop the "Windows Search" service

2. Do backup of the Index files

3. Do backup of "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search" registry key.

I have moved the Index from one PC to another and it works!

I index the information from DB which is on separated computer so I have no problem with sync Index with the computer.

Which entries from registry (the minimal set) must be backuped to be correctly linked with the Index files and the WDS do not delete the Index

Yes, that will work (not really supported though) but could cause items that was indexed, not to be re-index anymore. This is especially true for notification based indexing like outlook 12. Any items that was indexed before the restore could be lost. Outlook does listen to catalog resets or checkpoint roll backs and will re-index those items, but there currently no "backup restore" notification.

Well, the correct thing to do here is to support multiple catalogs (a future feature) where you data is in it's own index, so that you can back/restore it without effecting other indexed data. Right now, our answer is to re-index because we can always rebuild the index from your content. In the future as we become more of a property store, then we will definitely need to address backup/restore scenarios.
