    - Outlook 2007 search problem You are partially right but thanks. I would like to share my version of the same problem that I think it is complicated and serious. I am also using Outlook 2007 and waited a long time for it to index all items. I use Notes Item a lot and have been collecting information there for a long time but now everytime I do a search it it’s contents brings back nothing. I try select indexing options from there but it hangs for 3 to 4 minutes and then it comes back but it says that no files need to be indexed. I have a lot of important information on Notes but now I can’t find anything. Using Windows Vista Business (Upgrade) + Outlook 2007 (from a 2003 version) - 2 GB of RAM and a Readyboost pen drive of 4 GB to speed things up. PST files are all over 4 GB. From what I have read on almost every post, forum and support files here is what I have tried and have not solved a SEVERE problem (I think): - Rebuild Index; - Fixmapi stuff; - Repair Office 2007 (Final); - Moving the PST to another PC and tried the same thing; - Archive almost every e-mail to make my PST smaller although Outlook states it can be bigger than 2GB; - Do a All Items search; - Done an advanced search in contents of Notes and Tasks; - Tried searching in All Notes Item Search and hangs ofr 30 minutes; - Compacting PST; - Left it to Index 2 days in a row; - Used the Inbox Repair tool on my PST; - Not using exchange Well I can’t remember more things I have done from the searches I have taken. I think that if I can’t rely on Instant Search for Outlook 2007 then for Windows Vista I am starting to give it a doubt. I really appreciate some help on this. And ask for someone to take this message to microsoft please if necessary. PARTIAL SOLUTION!! Hi again and again. After taking all the steps above and rebuilding index like 50 times and testing on 5 or 6 different computers. I decided to take the funny solution that a user called: " mar7aib" suggested and I unchecked all the Data files and it worked! I call it a partial solution because searches are slower and I think it does not use Windows Desktop Search this way but until it gets corrected I am going to leave it this way. I suggest everyone to do this also because a search option is VITAL in any application and we must trust it but if it does not work properly then we must wait for better days. A good search option is important and it should return all results correct even if it is simple or advanced search. You can try and return "text/plain" and see if it will index using the plain text filter. Also try the SQL below to query for all your items in the index. If your items does not show up, then I would look at your IStream you are passing back.     - XML on one line problem. Hi, One solution may be to build a custom pipeline component that reads the message stream line by line, and adds line breaks in the appropriate places. There's a couple of classes that you can use for this (TextStreamReader, TextStreamWriter i think) that would make this fairly easy. You could then place the component in the Encode stage of a send pipeline to ansure all the sent messages are formatted correctly. There's a couple of samples of custom pipelines in the SDK samples, and the PM scenario in the SDK scenarios. Some questions I have: 1. Is there a finite number of rules 2. Are new rules identified often and if so how quickly are they to be implemented 3. Do existing rules ever need modification 4. How accurate do the rules have to be, as in if an account is identified as being suspicous and it is not what will the effect be 5. Are there any performance constraints or is it purely you have to process all new data daily 6. Are the rules to run daily to produce reports are they design to be run ad-hoc 7. Are all the rules to be customer centric or are there every rules to be run across several accounts or across transactions 8. Are you modifying any of the data 9. Is all the data loaded daily, as in the system is 'flushed' and the reloaded before running 10. How much historical data are you required to store My initial thoughts would be that you require a read-only data respository that allows you to efficiently search and read as required and then run a set of known rules over the data - which makes me think you require some kind of data warehouse with the rules possibly implemented outside of the database in a dedicated application developed in .Net but that depends on the questions above. As a test make sure that you are a member of the Administrator role in AzMan for CatalogandInventorySystem.     - How to make UI proof middle tier? The solution is to develop and test your application logic (work controller) in isolation, decoupled from any external framework. External implementations such as WebForms, Silverlight, WinForms, WPF etc... should be wrapped within adapters and exposed to the application layer as an abstraction. This way one implementation can be replaced with another without impacting the application code. I fear such a framework is not being developed because of the acceptance of the "UI layer" concept and of the fact that while it should be decoupled from business logic (which is not always right) it should be coupled to a specific type of UI. So I sense there is a tendancy towards accepting the fact that if multiple UI's are required then multiple UI layers (which contain duplicate code) are necessary. The new process name for hosting protocol handlers is now called searchprotocolhost.exe. To debug the protocol host, the registry key has been changes from rssearch to WindowsSearch under the HKLM hive. This reg key will stop the protocol host from shutting down due to inactivity.     - Cannot Open Starter Site Not sure if this is related to your problem, but are your running the Dev Edition of Commerce Server I beleive it is the only edition that is currently supported to run on Vista. Removing the Http Order module from the Config will cause the Order Context to not get created. So the second error makes sense if you removed that Http Module from the web.config.     - WDS is slowing down System Performance Not sure what else to check but here are a couple things. - Check to see if the "Index Now" button is pressed or not. If it is, the indexing is in effect and won't stop until all files are indexed. - Update Adobe Acrobat Reader that is installed on the machine to the latest version from www.adobe.com (Version 8). - Is the default location to be indexed has been modified in anyway - Leave the computer on and WDS running when the computer is not in use for some time see if it would eventually done indexing the whole system. On a similar subject, I recently received a new update to the spec which defines a new security and permissions model separate from AACS. I think this new model could make the testing of FullTrust-mode content easier. The new system allows content to be signed by any certificate authority (not just the AACS LA). Of course, players will only accept content signed by a trusted authority. But the spec mentions that players can optionally allow users to control which publishers and CAs are trusted. This sounds like a good compromise to me. Some speculation by me: One possibility is that a player could allow applications with a certificate that was signed by a regular CA like Verisign. This would prove the identity of the publisher, but not the trustworthiness of the content, so the player could then ask the user if it should trust the publisher. Applications with a certificate signed by a HD DVD-specific CA could run without any prompts (like in the current security model), because in this case the CA would verify that the application is not malicious and create the certificate themselves. Another option would be for player manufacturers to distribute a special "testing certificate" to developers to allow them to sign their applications for a specific player. In the OrderSystem, field that start with an underscore do not get persisted to tge databases. So, in case, if you save the field in Request 1, and in Request 2 you reload the basket, that will will not be there. This may or may not apply to your issue as I don't know if your are trying to populate the _cc_number key yourself. Depending on how your OrderPipelineMapping.xml is configured, normally the CreditCardNumber field of the CreditCard payment is transfered to the _cc_number field by the CS Pipeline Adapter (this is where values are moved from Order System Objects to CS Dictionaries). Otherwise you need to register a callout driver at IPPACKET or TRANSPORT layer. At IPPACKET, you will need to parse out the protocol field to know a packet is TCP. At TRANSPORT layers, protocol (and ports) are readily available; however at OUTBOUND_TRANSPORT the IP packet has not yet been built (In SP1 we will be providing a function to construct a full IP packet at OUTBOUND_TRANSPORT). After adding the extra slash, the indexer called CreateAccessor. I would still appreciate any pointers to info that explains the arcane syntax rules about search URLs so I can understand why this fixes the problem. I am considering upgrading WDS from 2.6 to 3.01 (Windows XP SP2, Office 2003 Pro SP2). In a test machine indexing of email, however, failed.

Is WDS 3.01 capable of indexing Outlook 2003 content

Yes, we support Outlook 2003 (I'm currently self-hosting Outlook 2003). Is your email using cache mode or is it directly talking to the Exchange server

I think, however, that I'll stick with 2.x for the time being, and upgrade to 3.x with 2007 Office.
