Indexing home drive Hey, I'm trying to use GPO to index our users home drive. I've set-up GPO to include this: ofts://{*}/home/home/%username%/* As a default indexed path. This does appear in indexing options, however the %username% has not been expanded and remains "%username%". It is not indexed either. Is there anyway to do something like this in WDS v3.01 Thanks! Vista-to-Vista WDS Not Querying Remote Index I have two systems on a LAN, one running Vista Ultimate and a laptop runing Home Premium. I have an entire data drive on the main (Ultimate) system indexed, and shared. However, on the laptop, when opening that share from Network Places and running a search, search is brutally slow and notes "Network locations and connected devices are indexed more slowly..."
I thought that Desktop Search would query the remote index when doing Vista-to-Vista searches. However, this appears not to be happening here (although I don't know how I'd know for sure... except for the incredible slowness and that notice.)
I'd rather not use the UNC path add-in if I can avoid it. Does anyone know:
That Vista Home Premium - to - Vista Ultimate desktop searches will query remote indexes
What the requirements are for this to happen successfully

"_cc_number" is blank - Custom Payment Component in checkout.pcf Pipeline Hi All!!
I've customised the checkout process from the original StarterSite to simplify it, and built a pipeline component to accept payments, however, when the checkout pipeline is called and i step through my component, the "_cc_number" property of the "payments" object has no value at all.
I'm definitely setting it up in the CreditCardPayment object, saving it to the user's Basket.OrderForms[0].Payments collection and calling Basket.Save().
Where might I be going wrong
Thanks!

How to capture IP header of the specified TCP packet with WFP I'd like to capture the IP header portion of the specified TCP packets (e.g., packets to the localhost) with WFP.
To achieve the goal, I think a callout is required to access the IP header data, but I don't know whether a built-in callout can be used for this purpose or not. Do I have to make some new callouts to access it Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture
Problem configuring a custom protocol handler on Vista RC1 I have developed a hierarchical custom search protocol handler, which I have been trying to integrate with Windows Search on Vista. The steps I've taken to register the handler are:
1. Create a REG_SZ value under HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Windows Search/ProtocolHandlers. The MSN WDS Toolbar documentation mentions an AddProtocol method that can be called on the SearchManager, but this does not exist in the ISearchManager interface in Vista (see searchapi.h in the SDK), so given the lack of documentation for alternatives I've registered the key directly.
2. Use ISearchCrawlScopeManager to add a search root and default scope. The search root is created with IsHierchical = TRUE and FollowDirectories = TRUE.
The registration itself completes successfully and I have confirmed new registry keys/values were added under the ProtocolHandler and CrawlScopeManager keys. After registration I rebuilt the index and have confirmed that the search indexer loads my protocol handler and successfully calls the ISearchProtocol::Init method, which returns S_OK. However, the indexer never calls CreateAccessor. At this point I really don't know what is failing, but I suspect it has something to do with how the search root and/or scope rule were defined, or that some other additional configuration step is needed.
Here is a summary of the settings that are added to the registry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\CrawlScopeManager\Windows\SystemIndex\SearchRoots\3] "URL"="XYZ://12345/" "Schedule"="" "IsHierarchical"=dword:00000001 "ProvidesNotifications"=dword:00000000 "EnumerationDepth"=dword:ffffffff "HostDepth"=dword:00000000 "FollowDirectories"=dword:00000001 "AuthType"=dword:00000000
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\CrawlScopeManager\Windows\SystemIndex\DefaultRules\12] "Default"=dword:00000001 "Include"=dword:00000001 "IncludeSubDirs"=dword:00000001 "Suppress"=dword:00000000 "URL"="XYZ://12345/" "Hierarchical"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Search\ProtocolHandlers] "XYZ"="Search.MyHandler.1"
I would appreciate any feedback on mistakes I may have made, pointers to documentation for managing registration of protocol handlers, search roots, and scope rules on Vista, and info on how to get useful logs or other troubleshooting info out of the indexer.
Thanks,

Delaying file deletion with file adapter I have a BizTalk orchestration that uses a file adapter to monitor a directory, pick up a .wav file, rename it, build e-mail body/subject, attach the .wav file and send it to an imaging solution via e-mail and also place a copy of the .wav file in a backup directory. The BizTalk solution works like a charm when manually dropping files into the Receive Location.
The problem is that the .wav files are created through third-party digital recording software that attempts to reopen the file immediately after completing the save, resulting in an error for the end user because BizTalk has already deleted the file from the directory.
I have looked at the possibility of using a convoy, however, since the file is still deleted, there's the chance that it may not be back in place in time for the recording software to reopen it.
Is there any way to delay the file deletion from the Receive Location (i.e. file creation timestamp + 5 minutes)
Thanks!

2-Tier Problems Accessing Remote Data I have a 2-tier architecture question.
What are the problems associated with accessing data remotely in a situation where a client application is directly accessing a SQL Server database over the internet
There are obviously security issues related to preventing unwanted access to the database, but what about performance issues Are there connection reliability issues, network limitations, etc., related to the effectiveness of a direct remote connection to SQL Server
An alternative architecture we are considering is a 3-tier model with a middle-tier application server (web service).

Manually Configure URLs Hi all, I need to be able to manually "configure URLs" for documents. I'm not sure how else to word it. Basically, say I have a document "d1" which I get WDS to index. However, I would like to map d1 to URL u1, so that when I search for the document using WDS, I get back u1, and not d1. This would probably be some sort of wrapper around the index, which would perform the mapping between document ID and URL. Is there any way to do this I've looked at the documentation, and I haven't found anything that addresses this issue. Win32API.FindWindowByID for a VB Application ControlID returns zero..why? Hello,
There are 3 applications as given below
1. CRM Web application
2. .Net Asset Maintenance ( C# based) Software
3. Inventory Control applicaton developed in VB6.0
that I am integrating with AgentDesktop
I have written three adapters for all the above so that when a new issue is created in CRM web app , it send the "Problem/Issue description" to other apps. They in turn will use the data and manipulate it.
The adapter for .Net application works fine. But the VB6.0 adapter is having issues. Using spy++, I found out the ControlID (Which is 00000008). Following is the code to populate the textbox in VB app with the data it reccives
public override bool DoAction(Action action, ref string data)
{
if (action.Name == "CreateTicket") { IntPtr txtDesc; txtDesc = Win32API.FindWindowByID(this.process.MainWindowHandle, 8); Win32API.SetWindowTextAny(txtDesc, data); } return true;
}
The above piece of code doesn't work at all.When I debugged I found Win32API.FindWindowByID function returns 0 (Zero). Any idea why and how to resolve the same
Is it because it is a VB App. Thanks in advance

Need to pass "raw" input message to SQL Adapter - how? Greetings,
We are using the SQL Adapter to call a stored procedure that inserts a row in a SQL Server table. One of the table columns is of type xml .
We want to pass the "raw" XML that is input through our receive port location. The schema for this location has a record named <root> with 5 elements beneath it - pretty simple stuff. We want to pass the native XML coming through the receive port to our back-end stored procedure. We need to store the original XML in the xml column for historical reference.
We have mapped the <root> record to an attribute in the send port schema and set the "Source Links" property on the mapping link to "Copy text and subcontent value". This causes the text values for the 5 elements beneath <root> to be concatenated. It works in the sense that our back-end database table is being updated with the value we pass to the stored procedure but it isn't the native XML we need.
How do we map the literal XML message to an output schema so that it will be passed through the SQL Adapter to a stored procedure
Thanks,

One receive port triggering another? We are receiving data files from mainframes which are not locked as they grow or are being transferred. To signal completion of the file transfer, the mainframe writes out a trigger file (signalling its done).
Naming convention is <filename>.dat and <filename>.trg
How can I use a messaging only solution for picking up the data file With 2 receive ports, the first one has the file mask set to <filename>.trg . Once it find the trigger file, we can be sure the <filename>.dat has stopped growing and ready for pick up. So bascially the first receive port should trigger the second one.
Its an interesting challenge to wire up messaging only solution with no Orchestrations for this Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture

Suspected Problem using MSAFD: lowering DLL ref count. I support several systems using USB check scanners. There are intermittent USB errors seen while the scanner is idle. These are usually preceeded by the lines in the debug log:
MSAFD: Pending APCs in cleanup! Waiting...
MSAFD: (cleanup) ... all APCs fired, lowering DLL ref count
I am trying to find out if the above entries indicate some sort of problem that could affect IO in other Windows device drivers.
The customer has not been able to provide any information as to why these entries are being made on their systems other than they are using TCP/IP to communicate scanned data to their host. I do not see these entries on other customer's systems.
Any information as to if the above entries could cause potential problems for other system devices would be greatly appreciated.

Error launching service with AlternateServicePorts Per a previous thread, I tried creating a service with two alternate ports -- a left motor port and right motor port. However, when I try to launch the service, I get the following error:
*** Manifest Loader: Creating service failed: http://schemas.tempuri.org/2007/03/robot1/servosonardriver.html . Reason: AlternateContractAttribute found on the service but AlternateServicePortAttribute does not have AlternateContract specified or its a duplicate [http://hostname:50000/manifestloader/f82df82b-91b8-4652-a5a8-395cd5122c54]
The error does not occur if i remove one of the two motor ports. Source code follows:
Code Snippet
[ DisplayName ( "ServoSonarDriver" )]
[ ContractAttribute ( Contract .Identifier)]
[ ActivationSettings (ShareDispatcher = false )]
public class ServoSonarDriverService : DsspServiceBase
{
[ ServicePort ( "/private" , AllowMultipleInstances= false )]
private ServoSonarDriverOperations _mainPort =
new ServoSonarDriverOperations ();
[ AlternateServicePort ( "/LeftMotor" , AlternateContract = motor. Contract .Identifier)]
private motor. MotorOperations _leftMotorPort =
new motor. MotorOperations ();
[ AlternateServicePort ( "/RightMotor" , AlternateContract = motor. Contract .Identifier)]
private motor. MotorOperations _rightMotorPort =
new motor. MotorOperations ();
...
}
Question:
Have I used the AlternateServicePort attribute incorrectly, or are you actually forbidden from having two ports on a service instance that fulfill the same contract Or is this only a limitation with the declarative syntax -- can you expose new ports as the service is running

Reversed Engineer okay...but can't Forward Enginer DB? Hello -
I am using SQL 2005 and Visio 2003 for Enterprise Architects and I reversed engineered a database. I made some updates to the data model/schema - adding columns, setting up foreign key relationships - but I am unable to find out how to forward engineer or update my database.
When I create a database model using the templates (without reverse engineering), I can generate the sql scripts necessary to build the database. This doesn't option doesn't even appear in the Database menu with the one I reversed engineered.
Is there any way to accomplish this

Log a single end of process event when many orchestration instances do the work We process a very large message container document which has thousands of Flat File messages inside it. We need to log the start of the process and its end.
We also split the incoming message container document into individual messages, and these are picked up by different Orchestration instances to process. I have checked there are around 500 Orchestration instances working simultaneoulsy and a total of over 3000 finally to process all the messages.
The start of the process is logged by a pipeline component which splits the message container document into individual messages.
The send is handled by a send pipeline which is simple a FFAssembler pointing to the document schema. This will be called after every message send - which is the same as the number of messages.
The Send Port has CopyMode = Append, so all the messages are appended to one output document container which is then sent to the receiving system.
How can I log one End Process event only from this process Only 1. Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture
Store image object in a javascript object I currently have an application that creates an image object in pure javascript using the following code:
this._image = new Image(); $addHandler(this._image, 'load', Function.createDelegate(this, this._onLoad)); this._image.src = url;
The neat thing about this is that I can wait with putting the image element into the HTML document until the browser actually has it loaded. So basically my onLoad function just add's it to the DOM and hides a progress indicator:
$get('images').appendChild(this._image); this._image.style.height = "50px"; this._image.style.width = "50px"; $get('progressIndicator').style.display = "none";
Now, I want to do the exact same thing using XAML, but as far as I can see, you just create a string that represent the XAML element, and then add that to your XAML document. I obviously don't have the same object-oriented approach to creating my elements.
Bottomline : How do I wait with adding an image-element to my WPFE control, until the actual image has been downloaded to the client Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture
Architecture and Design help for a project involving TIFF Images Hello All, I have requirement analysis for a upcoming project (Desktop Application )involving handling of TIFF images extensively. To summarize, there will be around 50 nodes ( LAN ) doing some sort of data entry by view a batch of TIFFs allotted to each user/node. These batch of tiffs may be shared by 1-5 users ie a user may have one batch or one batch may be shared by (upto) 5 users. Now my immediate concerns are :
This is basic and most important. Handling of images : Images will be ftp from client site to the location and centrally stored on a server. They will be made into batches on the server for allotment. Now what should be the design and architecture to fetch images from the server to nodes ( LAN ) so that performance is maximum. No network choking. Average size of tiff will be 300 KB and in extreme cases may go upto MBs ( 1-8 MB very rare but yes). I will be using Oracle 9i for data storage but would not like to store images in Oracle so the option is out.
I need a .NET compatible image viewer . It should be least expensive with usual feature like >>,<<,zoom,conversion from jpg to Tif and OCR capability will be added advantage. I am looking forward to your inputs. Thanks. Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture
connecting biztalk to a wcf service containing a fault contact I¡¯ve created a wcf web service which accepts a string as a request and gives an appropriate response if the request meets certain criteria, otherwise it throws a faultexception .
The wsdl for this web service displays 3 data contacts, one for request, one for response and one for fault.
Ive used the consume wcf service wizard to consume this web service.
When I use a port to connect to this web service in a biztalk r2 orchestration the port appears with 3 message endpoints displayed:
One for request, one for the response and one for a fault.
I am unable to connect the fault end point to a receive shape the way I can connect the response end point.
When a fault message (do to a fault exception) is sent from the wcf web service , a soap exception is thrown which can be caught, but along with that a separate fault message is also transmitted, resulting in an error which is seen in the event viewer.
I basically would like to know if this fault end point can be made useful, by connecting it to any shape in the orchestration And also i would like to know how to suppress this error in the event viewer if it is possible.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. :-) Tag: Windows Desktop Search Help Index Networked Drives Architecture
