Is the <head> section of the markup accessible from the script.
Can it be modified using DOM CORE API etc

Yes, it is accessible and modifiable, but the changes won't make a difference until you call document.load to reload the document.

Will the ( refer Attr Interface DOMCORE API) specified for an attribute be "true" if that attribute has been applied by referential styling .

( specified )
true attribute is specified in markup
false attribute is not specified in markup
true attribute is set by DOMCORE API
false attribute is removed by DOMCORE API
true or false attribute is set through referential style
false attribute is set through applicative style

I know that specified is false in many cases. Since that refers to whether or not the value was set in the XML file itself, and since XML has no knowledge of the document's semantics, any kind of reference shouldn't affect specified.

Although I haven't tested this to see whether we have bugs or not...
