- List all wi-fi networks using C# There are many discussions here on managed wrappers if you look. I've done one in VB. I would recommend using the SDK sample wlan\autoconfig as a way to learn the api and as a utility to check what you are doing. The API is documented on MSDN2. The unmanaged datastructures are in the SDK. Be careful. in some structure there is undocumented padding. There have been other surpises as i did this. There are essentially two lists provided by the API. The AvailableList which is really odd for the following reasons: 1.) It does not reflect APs with duplicate SSID names. It reflects the first one. 2.) On the other hand profiles are also in the list and they look a lot like an AP No entire picture of an AP can be obtained without also calling the BSSList and merging the two lists. But that becomes challenging because 1.) The Bsslist does show APs with Duplicate SSIDs. 2.) It does not show profiles. The lists are therefore unlikely to have the same number of elements at any given time. There is no "hook" between the two lists to match the elements. Beyond Order and the constriants I listed above. Goodluck and I hope you have a healthy supply of antipsychotics. - Why would I ever use ServicedComponents for in-service data access? Thank you for the input, Erik. Question, though - I was under the impression that you CAN include SQL Server and MSMQ in a transaction together when using the .NET 2.0 System.Transactions stuff; it's just that this forces transaction promotion to a distributed transaction and yes, gets MSDTC involved. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by 'directly' I'm very interested in the answer to this question; we're in early development now, we'll have MSMQ transactions, and we're trying to decide whether to become early adopters of .NET 3.0 or not. - Virtual Catalog Search : Cannot find column <column name> Even after rebuilding the catalogs, this didn't work. Here's what I was able to figure out after a long time using the SQL query analyser debugger feature. When the .ctlg_GetResults_for_SingleCatalog is executing, it generates some SQL by calling a function ctlg_GetFTSQuery then executes that sql. This is causing the error. - Guidance on number of catalogs and number of products Hi Max, Thanks for the response. I understand the difference between the docs. I guess what I am asking in a nutshell is... Can anyone give a clearer formula for helping designers with catalog design & sizing Right now, I would answer: If you have less than 500,000 products (which could be many more SKUs) use a single catalog if you can, but if you over 500,000 products split it into multiple catalogues. Of course, if you do that, a logical split might be to make all the root categories from your big catalogue, into catalogues themselves. If you have 2 million products and 8 root categories that leaves you with 8 catalogs with ~250,000 products in each. Right now, I don't know if that will perform better, or worse than a single, over-sized catalogue. I am still a little confused about the catalog figures. In the "Data Setup" section of the CS07PerfGuide it says "15 catalogs with 1,000,000 products each". The only place SKU is mentioned is in the in inventory config section. Are you saying that it should read "15 catalogs with 1,000,000 SKUs in each." If so, then surely the perf dos is misleading/wrong I'm guessing SKU is a better term to use across the docs, as it equates to a row in the catalog DB. BTW - If there is no more specific advice, I am fine with that too. It would just be nice to know one way or another, so I can make a mental note that I might have to change my catalogue design later in the project. - Silverlight installation not working Hello, Help! Silverlight won't install on my machine! I've been through the install process at http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/install.aspx many MANY times - each time it tells me Silverlight has been installed successfully, When I hit back to return to the page (i.e. http://www.popfly.ms/shell.aspx projectType=mashup ) that orignally sent me to the SIlverlight installation page, I get redirected back to the installation page. Same happens if I start a new browser. the same happens if I go to any other page that requires Silverlight installed. If I look in "Programs and Features" I can see that "Microsoft Silverlight" is listed. I am using IE 7 on Vista Ultimate. Help! What's going on Why won't any Silverlight sies recognise that I have Silverlight installed even though I (apparently) DO have it installed. Answers on your questions 1) A Person class uses less memory and is better serializable.. 2) Nice balance: For all the lookup tables use one dataset. Only load the desired tables for the UI and BL. - Attaching unstructured data (string) to a XAML Shape Object I apologize in advance for digressing into SVG on a WPF/E board, and I will tie this back to WPF/E, but I do not see such a "data" element or attribute in the SVG 1.1 spec. Is this a non-standard extension to some particular vendor's exposed object model In reality, the way to extend SVG to support additional data is via additional namespaces. eg. <svg xmlns="svg's namespace" xmlns:mydata="my namespace"> <rect x="10" y="10" width="100" height="100" fill="red" /> <mydata:data value="blah blah blah" /> </svg> When the SVG is rendered in the client environment, the client side code (javascript) can get at the <mydata:data... > element and all of it's attributes because the SVG object model is a (xml) DOM based object model and the entire DOM is exposed, demarkated by the namespaces. So SVG has a very elegant way of extending it's content beyond what the SVG rendering engine can consume. This is extremely valuable. As far as I can tell, WPF/E users could suffer in this particular capability. How much I cannot say, but I am already up against this issue and it's a bit of a wall. Aproaches described in other posts are really just nifty hacks. Nothing stops up from putting additional namespaces into the XAML because it's XML, eg. <Canvas xmlns=" http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation " xmlns:x=" http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml " xmlns:mydata="my namespace" > <Rectangle Canvas.Left="10" Canvas.Top="10" Width="100" Height="100" Fill="red" /> <mydata:data value="blah blah blah" /> </Canvas> Any validating XML processor can parse this xml, as it is well formed and valid. However, the WPF/E control cannot (will-not) parse this xml, and will throw an exception. I recognize that some program managers have alreay stated on this forum that such a feature would not be supported in the first release, but even if they did, there appears to be another problem... Suppose the XML processor inside the WPF/E control was modified to simply ignore namespaces that weren't germane to rendering WPF/E content (which wouldn't be all that hard to do), and we could still get our rectangle showing on the agControl's surface. How would we be able to access our <mydata:data> object Since the WPF/E object model is not a (xml) DOM object model, it would be very difficult to get to it, without some dynamic way of allowing new object types to be generated. Yuck. Very tough to do in a cross platform manner. This is actually what is happening in full WPF, but it requires all of .NET 3.0 and assemblies that represent the object types corresponding to the extended object. I'm not saying that I think that WPF/E should expose a (xml) DOM object model as opposed to the one it exposes, but I am saying it makes extensibility (of this kind) a much harder problem. In WPF/E all we really want is the data in the <mydata:data> element, we don't need extensible dynamic object creation ( ). All we're going to do is get that data, and use our javascript to drive the WPF/E object model in one way or another depending on what <mydata:data> contains. What I would really like to see is the agControl object modified so it's xml processor ingnores extended namespaces like <xmlns:mydata>, and the controls interface extended to contain a read only property called DOMString, which contains the whole outerxml of the original XAML file being used/rendered. Then me and my javascript could parse th DOMString, get at extended data and party-on. This may not be the best way to implement such a feature request or may not be part of the overall technology strategy for WPF/E, but it's an idea, and could be very simple to do. In summary I think WPF/E is very well done so far, but I'm holding it up to SVG as the benchmark. Extensibility (of the type described above) is one area where there is some possible capability lacking. - Using several Fischertechnik interfaces Dear Dave, thanks for this hint, but we don't need two devices simultaneously, a better solution for only 8 motors could be the Ext. mode of the FT16 devices. With the ROBOPro-Test it works fine but I have no idea how to use the Target Motor in the Dataconnections to address motor 5 to 8. That should be the right way, or do we have to extend the driver to support targets for M5 to M8 For better understanding of the error symbols '!' it would be great to see the generated C# code of the VPL-Tool, is there any way to do that Thanks in advance for any help! - IWMPCdromRip fails to refresh CD Playlist The latest WMP 11 has support for IWMPCdromRip. I've developed an application to assist in automating the ripping process, specifically the post processing. However the playlist (which includes information about the disc track count, artist, album, genre, etc...), is not refreshed after the first rip. The process is as follows: load cd which causes the process to create the WindowsMediaPlayer object enumerate the CDs and request the playlist from the IWMPCDRom enumerate the playlist with the track information start ripping the disc, which polls for status of the ripping when completed set all interface pointers to NULL to free the entire WMP resoures eject the disc start all over After the first iteration of this, any subsequent calls to get_Playlist will return the playlist from the first rip. The only fix is to relaunch the application. Reusing the interfaces does not appear to work, ejecting the disk using IWMPCDRom interface doesn't work, requesting to clear the Playlist also doesn't work. - IE7 Issues with WPF/E but only local I had a very similar problem. IE7 would not work locally, but would work remotely. Firefox worked just fine. The problem turned out to be an out date "agHost.js" file. The error message "You must install "WPF/E"(codename) December 2006 CTP to view the page. Get "WPF/E!"" would appear on IE7, but not Firefox for local files. When you follow the link in the error message it takes you to the February 2007 CTP. - Base64Binary handling in .NET Assembly The problem is this: ReportExecution2005 web service maintains state, through the use of an ExecutionID. You have to call several methods in a specific order and you will get your report. Fist, you have to call LoadReport() to "preload" the report. Then, you have to SetExecutionParameters() and finally you call the Render() method, that will return a Byte[] (base64Binary) with your report in the format you specified. Once you call LoadReport(), a unique ExecutionID is generated and maintain to identify the execution state of the report rendering, so the next calls will be bound to this ID. If you call the web service from a .NET Assembly, you'll have no problem. But if you do the call inside an Orchestration, it seems that BizTalk loses this ExecutionID. I mean, when you have to call the SetExecutionParameters() method just after you call the LoadReport(), ReportingExecution2005 will complain that you have failed to indicate an ExecutionID. It's like you have called the second method without calling the first one first, and that's not allowed for obvious reason (it would not be able to track what report you have loaded in LoadReport()). This ExecutionID travels inside a SOAP Header . It would be nice to access this SOAP Header inside the Orchestration just before each of the method calls and assign the ExecutionID (you can get this by calling GetExecutionInfo() every time you want) to the SOAP Header. It seems that BizTalk doesn't take the ExecutionID from the SOAP Header coming in the response message when you call LoadReport() and, obviously, doesn't assign that value to the SOAP Header that will travel in the request message when calling SetExecutionParameters(). I'm just doing the call using a .NET Assembly. Regarding my previous question, I answer myself: yes, what I have done is allright. But I will use Convert.ToBase64String(). Thanks! It doesn't look like this functionality has been commuted over to CS2007 (I don't see the tables in the database that used to support this), but I could be wrong.
I'm sure it's entirely possible to use CS2007 in this capacity, but I don't think it's set up to do this out of the box.

Yes, we did not bring the Auction sitelet forward to CS2007. This doesn't mean that you can't use what's there. Stay tuned, I am in the process of converting the sitelet.
